So, without even really trying to argue about what our most competitive casters, lists, or pairings are, I'm just curious as to what people are working on and why. I need to learn Gunny and Kolgrimma, but I'm playing Borka 2 in SOTN for fun and Grim 1 because I've always liked him but he's obviously stronger now.

I've been playing Kolgrima mostly because she feels very unique for trolls to me. Working on a pairing for her and have been playing with Grim1, Grim2, and Grissel2 lists.

Jarl in SotN is what I'm working on, but I can't help thinking about other things occasionally. I don't have time to play enough games to test all the ideas.

Working on Madrak1 at the moment. Torn between playing him in Storm of the North for access to Battle Bears and Pyg Ambushers and Band of Heroes for Fennblades. I think that both have their costs and benefits.
SoTN constricts your opponents deployment with Bears while still giving access to Champs and Long Riders.
BoH offers the takedown and Fennblades. Anyone have any thoughts?

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm doing a 5 game challenge with Madrak1 in BoH right now. I'm 2-0, so it's goinf pretty well so far. My opponents and I have both made some significant mistakes though, as we're all trying out new lists. The Fenns under Madrak make for an incredible jamming unit and a pretty good alpha strike with either cleave or RFP, but it's hard to keep them in his smallish control range. They also don't really benefit from his feat very much.

Coming over to Trolls from Legion.
Planning to focus on Madrak1 primarily (unsurprising I suppose). In trying to come up with a decent pairing I’m looking to either Ragnor or Doomy3 in PoD.
Jarl is really interesting in SotN as well, just think it’s too similar to Madrak.

Working on speeding up my death clock efficiency for Madrak2, 2x Fenns in BoH, as my answer to opposing recur strategies.
Gris2 is my gal, but stepping back from her since I feel I already am proficient with her scary, but predictable assassination strategy/tactics.
Calandra2, with Mulg as spell preventor and enabler, in Theme or out...
My Kolgrimma is awaiting Pyg Lookouts to make Bushwhackers the ranged auto-1-damage models they should be...RAT 4 still. Guess I could proxy with unused Burrowers...but Snowpyg!

I'm focused on Kolgrima and Madrak1 atm. I do not know how they fit into the meta but they both do stupid good things.

I'm not 100% sold on it yet as a serious competitive pair, I don't think Kolgrimma handles extreme infantry swarms as much as I'd like even with how silly that spray is. This weekend I top of 2'ed a 2 camp Gastonne under his feat on a hill just with her. We re-racked from that point assuming I went for attrition instead and traded mulg (as an arcnode) for an entire unit of hammer dwarves, Alexia (less a few risen as he decided to keep them), Alten Ashley and some halberdiers. He ended with 5 halberdiers between 2 units, 2 freeboters, a nomad and Ragman when I killed him on top of 3. I also played her into Harbinger Faithful Masses and was forced to go for an assassination because of spread the net. Turns out camping focus don't matter when it's dice damage already. If it weren't for the scenario, I think a long attrition game would have gone in my favor seeing at this point all he had left were his 2 monks, his 2 paladins, a crusader, a guardian missing its arms, a devout and support. I had lost nothing. And I could have done some sprays with Kolgrima on them instead of Harbinger in that case. I legitimately do not know how she got out of CID in her state.

I legitimately do not know how she got out of CID in her state. I honestly think it is because the troll CID was way too big. Too many things to test, too little time. I didnt play a single game with her...

Lets try and keep her under wraps so that she doesn't get nerfed.

Heck with that! Own with her for the next six months to a year and force another CID round for trolls. Lol.
Maybe we’ll get some ranges units thrown in the mix.

Her attrition value is insane with a spray 10, and a SnP 14 at Spray 10 is even more insane for assassination. Ignores cover, concealment, stealth, heck because it's a spray it gets around untargetability by just hitting your own stuff or stuff of theirs that will clip.
