Was it similar to the anti-Cygnar one from ATC? OK I see it now. Yeah I had considered almost the exact same list when I was thinking about how others are building him. If a Trollblood player does get a Hooch Hauler, how do you like that with Borka 2? I feel like it's really strong, especially with his feat. I like Raiders with him but I wonder how much he needs to keep them in CTRL and whether that is a problem at all.

I was wondering what would be a good troll counter to the typical madrak champion list? Grim 2 shoots them down and prevents healing from the feat. Doomy 2 can force an early feat and has wild aggression so that your beasts can kill champs fairly reliably. Madrak 3 can control a unit unless they have Eilish (but they might very well have that). Spell piercer is also nice, and the feat could be strong if Madrak 1 is playing SotN. Madrak 1 cancels out any advantage Kolgrimma could help prevent charges with her clouds, and -2 DEF is good too. Grim 1 can lower DEF and prevent charges. Grissel 1 can apply calamity (to hit more reliably) and have her stuff hit twice for good measure. You can easily achieve MAT 10-11 effectively with most stuff against a target with Calamity. Horgle 2 can light up the champs with a bomber and then go to town with the feat. ARM 23 on a gargantuan could be too much for POW 13 champions too. lots and lots of options

Champs really don’t like high pow sprays. They want to be bunched up B2B but high pow simultaneous attacks gets around many of their tricks. A Gunny MK could do some work (but likely dies to the 2nd unit the next turn, lol).

Gunny's wall is one of the hardest spells to use in the game but god damn it's brutally effective. Telling your opponent "you physically can't stand here" can be one of the most broken effects in the game in the right circumstances. The Skarre1 matchup basically lives and dies on good walls preventing too much from getting on your MK in my experience.

So I'm going to be doing some testing with replacing lanyssa and the fire eaters with gremlin swarm and raiders:
Trollblood - Madrak1 Raiders

Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Chieftain - WB: +29 - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Glacier King - PC: 35 (Battlegroup Points Used: 29)
Fell Caller Hero - PC: 0 Gremlin Swarm - PC: 3
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 5 Grunts: 9 - Northkin Elder - PC: 3 Trollkin Champions - Leader & 4 Grunts: 16 - Skaldi Bonehammer - PC: 0 - Trollkin Sorcerer - PC: 3 Northkin Bear Handler & Battle Bears - Bear Handler & 2 Battle Bears: 10 Northkin Bear Handler & Battle Bears - Bear Handler & 2 Battle Bears: 10 Northkin Raiders - Leader & 9 Grunts: 15
The idea here being that Jam is the prime directive of the fire eaters and I'd rather have 10 medium bases rather than 4 plus 2 small. This also lessens the need of using the Fel Caller for Pathfinder and might ultimately see him getting removed to make the sorcerer free for the champions and allowing me to upgrade the Gremlin Swarm to a premium Merc solo, or even just swap him out for Valka.

I've actually been playing something very similar, just swapping the Fell Caller, Sorcerer, and Gremlin Swarm for Valka and Eilish and it's been working out great. I definitely found the Fell Caller to be somewhat unnecessary when everything already has Pathfinder and Guided Hand can be a reasonable replacement for +2 MAT. Having Puppet Master available for both the GK and Madrak's axe has been very helpful and he also provides upkeep removal in place of the Sorcerer. Valka I stuck in just because I love the model, but he's actually been critical a couple times for his magic axes (stupid gremlin swarms). Without the sorcerer, this list has very, very few magical weapons so if you are leaning on Eilish for upkeep removal, I highly recommend Valka as a very solid, independent module.
