We lost +2 threshold on our beasts and got serenity for the dk instead. That sucks a bit because you will never put your dk that far up the board.

Agreed. That was a stupid change. I never use Dhunia Knot anyway, since I think 12 pts. for the stone is plenty points spent on support. But a major change is we now kan take Minion solo/unit! That is awesome. Now I don't have to take shitty Runeshapers, I can take Nyss Hunters, Croak Raiders or something else more worth their points. All in all I think it was a slight buff to PoD...

I don't think the +2 Threshold ever really mattered? Having whelps around really helped out with any frenzy issues. So not really fussed that it is gone.
In saying that though.. I don't know if serenity on the Knot is a good swap for the losing the THR.. More of a reason to take some Puppet Master?

Oh. the +2 threshold mattered... damn. But the addition of minions is a buff, so i think it was a net gain anyway... probably...

Was it always the free stuff for 25 pts of beast, or was it 20 prior to new theme release?

Yes, 25.
Which is bad when you have a 9-12 pts. ball and chain around your ankle.
At least Cygnar will only get 3 free cards now as well, which is nice.

I've always loved the knot. I think the serenity will be good for bombers, and make impalers less lame. If you have a bear that can stand off and shoot, you can not have to worry much about its fury, which could be very cool. It will absolutely require a new strategy for the knot, but it'll also make their healing power more likely to be used.
I'd still rather screen with fenns, but I'm excited about adding Lanyssa, personally.

Was that Grim1 CID? Relying on def 14 is legit i guess, its basically what some legion and circle do.

Yes it was. But the only chance in grim1 is the no charging under the feat bit. I think you mean madrak1, which is also a cool option. I have also changed my initial pod list to: War Room Army Trollblood - Grim angus Theme: The Power of Dhunia 3 / 3 Free Cards 75 / 75 Army Grim Angus - WB: +29 - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Dire Troll Bomber - PC: 19 (Battlegroup Points Used: 19) - Dire Troll Bomber - PC: 19 (Battlegroup Points Used: 10) - Dire Troll Mauler - PC: 15 - Mulg the Ancient - PC: 22 - Troll Axer - PC: 10 Northkin Shaman - PC: 0 Troll Whelps - 5 Whelps: 0 Dahlia & skar - PC 17 Swamp gobbers - PC 2 Swapped out the bouncer and dk for the minion options Dahlia gives me some legit anti inf and the gobbers can add to the cloud wall or give dahlia stealth. Feels like more offensive power and maintain an good balance in the list.

Honestly, I do not like this change at all. I did use +2 THR, more often than you might think. Is the Knot at least somewhat useful? Sure. More so if you're building a dedicated assassination list that bets more heavily on a few key rolls? Yes, and I've done that, but POD is usually built for attrition. I guess in that case they spend more time healing, and that's great, but still, the very problem that I have always had with the Knot is very much still there. I have to pay 6 points on top of already at least 12 points worth of support, and while the Axer and Mauler are fantastic beasts and I love them both, they are also must-haves...
For my own part, I miss my level-headed Bombers already, and I don't even own a Dhunian Knot. Again, it's a perfectly decent support unit, and they are just barely cheap enough to throw away to score a zone. Serenity isn't tremendous, but it is useful. I can see why you would take them, but I cannot help but have this knee-jerk reaction... Every time I see them in a list it immediately looks like support bloat. I find myself thinking that person would have been better off with another warbeast, and it is usually the case that could have been a Bouncer or Slag with just a little wrangling.
Seriously- is it doable for the Knot to be allowed as a freebie? 6 points is a bit much, but not unprecedented. The opportunity cost of maybe not having Janissa or a Shaman is meaningful.

You got a point.
In other factions there are several 6 and 7 point free cards, so why not the Dhunia Knot?? That would actually make me bring them to a list. Better than mediocre Janissa or Shaman, and fill the same role for the army as all free solos: Support.
Now that they did not include the PoD stone as counting points OR as a free card option (or two), this is the least they could do for Trolls most used Theme...
PP: I am yet again disappointed!

I totally agree that the Threshold change was probably not great, but the important thing to remember is that now we can take Mulg (who will be vastly improved shortly in CID), a cheap scoring unit in the gobbers as well as minion solos (Lanyssa any one?). This is a net gain imo. Add the fact that BoH is super legit now, Northkin are just around the corner together with additional CID changes all of which are buffs. I think now is a good time to be a troll player. WTC basically came at the all time low point of troll competitiveness, but now we have BIG buffs lined up and incoming. I am NOT disappointed
