UPDATE: We added some things! See further down. Hey all, I started a new project blog to document the full-army conversion I'm working on. ravening-kriels.blogspot.com/It started out as a Trollbloods / WHFB Orcs mashup for a couple units, and grew organically from there. I've got an intro article up ( edit: and two log entries, now), and we'll be posting 2-3 log entries for models and units already completed over the next week. Comments are disabled on the blog at the moment, but feel free to throw out any criticism / praise / ideas here. Here's a WIP of a couple Impal-otaurs to give you an idea of what we're going for.

I'm excited for this. I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work. Thanks! Looking forward to getting the rest of the finished model photos posted. After that, we'll hopefully get on a semi-regular schedule of knocking out new models. I'm probably also going to do an entry here and there about the planning / thought processes behind the project, and maybe an occasional general hobby article if we think something warranted a special technique or something like that.

I have a possible solution for the basing problem i think. Having the correct base size is absolutely crucial for warmachine obviously. It is possible, but a slight inconvenience, to have the bases be removable. The way i would do this is to have a "pin" for one foot, and a magnet for the other. That way the model can get stability from the pin, but the base will still not remain on the table when you lift the model thanks to the magnet.
Another possible way if you play kings of war (where you do not really use individual models, but rather a big trey of models, right?) is to glue the WMH bases in place, and then make a move trey with round inserts for when you play Kings of War. This will not work for Warhammer though...

@ Trollock
Appreciate the input, it's a good idea, but I think the method we've devised works to our satisfaction. As I mentioned in the intro, the models are on magnetic bases (a lot of them are the old GF9 ones, but we've used a variety). We usually put them on the smallest base that makes for a stable model. For WMH, if the model's base is smaller than the legal size (for instance, a fennblade on a 25mm square), we drop it into one of the base inserts we made to bring it up to legal size. The inserts are basically single-model steel trays built into a round lip base of the appropriate size. For aesthetic appeal, we've been working on hollowing out the base inserts so that the model sits at table height (instead of having a base sitting on top of a base).
I'll probably do a special entry on it down the line explaining the specifics and showing some examples, and describing the alternates we experimented with along the way.

Just a quick update. We've managed to get a handful of posts done over the past couple weeks, including Grim, Madrak, Mulg, and the battlebox light beasts. More to follow!
