Quote on Miniature Market website link (from routine email I received from Miniature Market): "During GAMA this year, Games Workshop made a major announcement that they were lifting several restrictions in regards to online selling of their product. Starting in May 2017, online websites will be allowed to list products along with pictures and descriptions. Games Workshop products can now be bought and sold just like everything else listed on our website. There will be a M.A.P. (Minimum Advertised Price) associated with these products at 15% off of the SRP." Interesting. PP moved to reduce online discount sales in the recent past. Now GW lifts restrictions. [Definitely not advertising! Still not a fan of the tactical play/ruleset of current 40k, but the models' esthetics/construction ease ARE great. I find their decision intriguing...]

Interesting. I want to see how this pans out.

Just making some Blood Bowl figures right now-- they are amazing. GW have been making a lot of great decisions lately, and I have to wonder if the sleeping giant has finally awoken. I would say it's good news for gamers as a whole, and hope the competition drives PP to get better.

I don't follow 40k. What over decisions have they been making? My big concern with ever collecting their stuff is my purchases being invalidated when they get rid of the vacation or unit *cough space dwarves*

They even have assault cannons. Wait, I mean *cough* Dogs Of War? *cough* Save

Just saw GW news link from Adepticon. Rules changes will happen. Community involvement in rules has been happening (!?).
I just hope they don't get too great a rule-set (or close enough to PP's). I don't want to see our WM/Hordes community splinter...

I would say it's good news for gamers as a whole, and hope the competition drives PP to get better. They kinda started making sense as of late which took everyone by suprise. They've tested their stuff (!) with community (!!) for some time. They started to make normal marketing decisions, rather than making sure everyone hates them evenly. They've started re-realeasing old board games and revitalizing old licenses. They've started to act as an actual company, trying to sell you products! I believe removing sclerotic upper brass might be the reason TBH. On the other hand PP seems to be going old GW path, so all evens out

TBH IMO GW are absolutely killing it right now in the world of toy soldiers. Which makes me even more frustrated with the recent approach from PP. They had such a good position in the market and it feels that since the slightly rushed release of Mk3 they have totally failed to capitalise and get more people playing the game. Just after the release of Mk3 loads of people I know got themselves starter sets. Most of them put them aside or sold them on after PP stumbled with the ball and then GW have surged back.
I'm not "anti GW", id just would have hoped that PP could have continued their growth.

It really does seem like they've swapped playbooks recently.
What makes it all the harder is one example of them uses a material I love, and hasnt had a major swing and miss on a model in a while.
At least PP has taken its first steps into hard plastic, most of which have been good, hydra notwithstanding. I really like my siege crawler model and stormclads, for instance.
That all said, the rule sets are still light years apart. I'm curious to see what 8th ed does though.

I know that this is a different forum, but remember when Sony said they were going to lock discs to the PS4 and that they wouldn't support the resale of games? It wasn't long until Microsoft was like, "Well if they're doing it, we can too!", so they announced it. Then, AT THE SAME SHOW, Sony was like "nah, jk. Also we're cheaper and better and we have more history and we love you".
That's how it feels right now with GW and PP.

I'm not "anti GW", id just would have hoped that PP could have continued their growth. For me, the turning point happened when I decided I wanted a new team for the Spike tournament in August. I went to get some new Dwarfs without considering price, saw the forty dollar (Canadian) price tag (thirty four at a store that discounts locally), and had to do a double check. It was indeed that price, it was indeed GW. No need to belabor the point by going on about comparing the models to the ones I have recently purchased from PP. Fluff wise, they are releasing the stuff people have asked about for years-- thirty k space marines??? Going back and giving AOS stuff points. What the heck, did the entire board of directors get abducted by aliens and lobotomized? Their marketing strategy seems to have ditched some of the stupidity that killed them in the past. Now they are allowing online stores to use regular shopping carts again. I still intend to stay with PP for the time being-- playing both companies' games. I do think that they need to up their game though, in order to keep up. Their games ran GW mostly out of the market in my area five or six years ago. That is no longer the case currently.

GW's new CEO has really turned the company around.
