I have been thinking on MD and how one use is it makes mediocre things better in melee, perhaps he can get some work with ravagores forcing the enemy to come to him while thrones tank the opposite flank. This is exactly how I play him. You'll notice that in the sample list section, the new list I use as of the CID heavily leans on shooting beasts, a ravagore included. Incidentally, Abby2 can do this extremely well too. +2SPD/MAT/STR on ravagores basically turns them into high profile melee killing machines when you need it. Agreed, she does this well. Thags does it in a slightly different way. A2 as the speed which to me is less important if you are making them come to you, also alpha is harder and sometimes not possible to process vs MD. I was thinking of starting with a base like this and adding in 18 points beasts to taste likely some lessors for sac: Theme: Oracles of Annihilation 3 / 2 Free Cards 56 / 75 Army Thagrosh, the Messiah - WB: +25 - Succubus - PC: 0 - Ravagore - PC: 16 (Battlegroup Points Used: 16) - Ravagore - PC: 16 (Battlegroup Points Used: 9) - Ravagore - PC: 16 - Naga Nightlurker - PC: 8 Throne of Everblight - PC: 16 The Forsaken - PC: 0 The Forsaken - PC: 0 Blackfrost Shard - Sevryn, Rhylyss & Vysarr: 9

If you change BFS to witches and rely on the naga for damage swing, you have points for typhon and 1 spellmartyr. Which are both excellent for eThags.

Shouldn't the one you spawn be good enough in most matchups?

The version I've been playing has Eillish+Spell Martyr vs the Mistspeaker and Gobbers in the list. I've enjoyed playing this list as a hard hit and run list, a long with the area denail with clouds and Hellmouths. Being able to slap down Rapture clouds where with the Hellmouths has helped a lot in controlling enemy infantry, and the sprint+feat on the beasts really lets them scalpel away at enemy models.
Legion Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Primal Terrors
[Thagrosh 2] Thagrosh, the Messiah [+25] - Golab [17] - Naga Nightlurker [8] - Neraph [12] - Neraph [12] - Seraph [14] Bog Trog Mist Speaker [4] Warmonger War Chief [5] Chosen of Everblight (max) [20] Hellmouth [0(6)] Hellmouth [6] Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew [2]

I haven't dropped it into a list a where I fought into high number of heavies, or heavies were the first the first line models for my opponents. Definitely need more games to see variety of matchups, but Thags2 has bullied zones against infantry heavy armies for me.

I don't own one but I do aspire to one day.

I'm definitely saving my pennies. Is there a tactica somewhere for the Throne? If not, someone should make one!

For lesser selections with eThag, what do people generally bring? Shredders are an obvious choice with flank for another warbeast. But having counterblast from the stinger could be potentially fun, and he can go crit fishing for his poison tail too. Harriers would be my last choice I think.

I have a ton of fun with the little monsters.
If you mean casting it on himself - Counterblast takes away from Thagrosh having EH or SG up. Otherwise CB rat 4 sprays are not going to hit often. If they walk into well, MD only last for the turn. So mat 5 isn't going to hit much either.
Harriers are an "bare minimum means of entry". If you want a sac pawn target and nothing else; you take a harrier.
