Why does Horgle have two models that look almost exactly the same? Like the only difference between them is that his weapons are on fire on his warlock model and he's got a different pose, I could honest to god greenstuff my old Horgle into a warlock.

I could be remembering this wrong, but I beleive there are con exclusive versions of the minor warlocks that were essentially arm variants.

It is like that with most of the journeyman warlocks/warcasters. Horgle 1 and 2 are the same person, just that Horgle 2 is later in his life. He has gotten a bit more armor and he sword is on frigging fire now, but he is still the same person underneath

Horgle 1 and 2 are the same person, just that Horgle 2 is later in his life so can I use Horgle(Jr) as a Horgle(lock) model, or do I need both? my was-PG says that they have to be what they are SUPPOSED to be because of model confusion, but there's so little difference between the models that if someone rarely plays against Trolls they would have trouble with it regardless

Its kind of like the butcher example from the Steamroller rules
" A player re-poses his Kommander Orsus Zoktavir model, intending to play it as Orsus Zoktavir, the Butcher of Khardov. This is an illegal conversion because it breaks the golden rule of conversions—it will be difficult for EOs and players to know which character the model is intended to represent without help from the player who converted it." -steamroller rules 2016 pg 3
essentially the models are so similar that the only "clear" way to discriminate them is to use the proper pose for the model

As a knifemaker that red hot sword is worthless, metal is all soft. If he went to hit something it would just bend. LOL just saying.

They struggle when making 2nd or 3rd versions of characters to differentiate unless they have a huge difference like riding a horse/battle engine etc.
Look at Vlad1 and Vlad2.

Otherwise in casual play, I don't see a problem with using Horgle1 as a proxy for Horgle2 as long as you've discussed that with your opponent before hand.
