So, now that SR 17 is fully out, what do we think?

I actually like it better than 16 for the most part. Pre measuring rules are still obnoxious but more bearable to work with and the Devs seemed to listen to a lot of our feedback in CiD.
My personal favorite scenario is Spread the net. The scenario is super active the whole game

while i understand most games dont go into round 7, not a fan of them making sure i have to track rounds now. kinda dumb
also, scanario pts arent nearly as much of the game as they use to be. which seems like it might force some casters out of play since thats what they were good at. which narrows the field.
but, this is all without playing any sr17 games so take from it what you will.

I don't know i still feel like scoring is very live. I played against a friend that was like lol scoring isn't important anymore so i maneuvered in a way that made sure he woudnt be able to get anything in one part of the board and i ended up winning 5 to 0. Like don't underestimate scenarios

My personal experience with SR2017 (beween 10-15 games played) is that scoring is very much alive. I don't think, hope, that you can get the feat scenario victories you once could but it's still the main win conditon IMO.

Great. It's amazing how big of a difference that 5 point vs 6 is. Before release nobody managed a scenario win, now with the 5 pts change things are way more engaging and we had a bunch of scenario wins and moments where the it's kill their caster or lose on scenario.

I actually preferred needing to be up by 6 and yes it did make a big difference. You could still win on the scenario, but you had no choice but to grind it out at least somewhat. Granted, my bias shows, as I play Trolls most of the time and I rarely play against Ghost Fleet.

I find that Sr 2017 games are very difficult to end. If you are in a winning position your opponent gets more chances at hail Mary plays. Not sure I like that.

I still don't get why scenario is so live for some people, it still is very dead for me. Scoring is quite live, sure, but the difference between my score and my opponent's score at the end of the game is pretty consistently 0-2 points (since the actual number doesn't matter any more).

Scoring is quite live, sure, but the difference between my score and my opponent's score at the end of the game is pretty consistently 0-2 points (since the actual number doesn't matter any more). I think a lot of it is faction and list dependent. I mostly play Circle and build lists that try to play hard on scenario and attrition but have a solid assasination threat in case things go sour. By nature of the faction and its control casters I tend to keep scenarios very live even though I consistently play grindy factions like protectorate, trolls, and Khador. When I play protectorate it's noticeably harder to keep the scenario a valid win condition over straight attrition. I think that's healthy though, both styles of play are more than achievable and effective on the table. I truly think the 5 point difference is a big deal

What if they just (in a make believe world) changed it back to a flat point total required? How much would that change up the current document?

For round tracking I got my 7 year to make up a set of cards that say Top 1, Bottom 1 and so on. Then I sacked them up in order and when turn ends just flip to the next card. PS my daughter loved the fact she was able to with daddy's game.
