So I'm curious about this change. So it doesn't push anymore?

It changed from an automatic push to a "can push". So if a model is right at the edge of the Glacier King's threat range you won't auto push it out of range and be unable to attack again.
It also gained crit stationary rather than crit knockdown.

So much better! Fewer anti-Stationary effects than no-KD effects out there I believe.

All 3 kings are now decent options, although mountain is still 'king'.

Yeah GK with the new elder pumps out 3 Pow 16's at range. That is some bomber level fire power.

I am not really convinced . Yes u are able to generate 3 boosted power 16 shoots but it will also generate 5 fury and u used a 36 point model. I would play double bomber with most of my casters instead of the gk . And snipe is a way better animus.

Glacier King has a lot more utility than you'd think, especially with the concealment bubble and stationary fists. I agree, reload hurts... he's definitely a fury hog, but keep in mind that 2 bombers are putting out 8 fury each altogether, and we've got casters who might not necessarily need the snipe (Gunny, Grim2).

If you weren't taking them already, you definitely need to be playing them with him. I wouldn't underestimate the melee capabilities of auto-stationary fists either, especially if we're comparing GK + Whelps (39pts) to two Bombers + Whelps (42 points). A Glacier King can anchor your list, providing a concealment bubble, a powerful mid-to-late game melee capacity, POW 14-16 shooting, and pushes to occasionally prevent a key enemy heavy from charging one of your models next turn. Before CID, its biggest issue was often being unable to focus fire on a single target. I had a game where I could have finished off either Ruin or a Juggernaught Top of 2 (both had been brutalized by the rest of my shooting), but the first shot pushed Ruin out of range (leaving him on 3-4 boxes) and the second shot pushed the Juggernaught out of range (leaving him on 3-4 boxes as well). My third shot was completely wasted, and had the pushes been optional, I could have completely eliminated an opposing heavy. Aside from the push effect, it has never been a bad model, just often overshadowed by its mountainous brother.

What if we were to suggest a single whelp shed per turn that he's damaged for the GK? I feel like a GK list with a small battlegroup makes him cost 39 pts instead of 35 because he HAS to have those whelps. In a small BG the MK doesn't need them... he brings his own! In a big battle group with a king I'll bring two units of whelps if the GK is included but only 1 with the MK.
This small change would save 4pts in a lot of GK lists.

Seems like that would infringe too much on the MK. I think they're all good where they're at. Each one offers something a little different while being a solid melee threat. MK is a little more universally but I like where the other kings are at.

Needing the new elder to shine is another fact to consider. The new elder is cool but you have to include him and cause u need the +2 damage really hurt the flexibility of the elder. Don't get me wrong but like u already mentioned it is a big package to help the gk. If you play him u still need an mauler for rage.

The thing here is that this thing shoots as a bomber and a half AND it fights better than a MK in melee (stationary on fists). You get great fire power AND great melee power. I played Bomber, Mauler, GK with Grissel 2, but i didnt like it in practice as much as i did on paper. If the GK is now POW 16 shooting and does not "always" push his target outside shooting range AND can crit stationary, this battle group sounds very sweet with many casters.
