So I'm joining the voodoo gators. What are the most important purchases for a new player. I would mostly be playing in theme. I also don't care for pigs.

Hey, I am fairly new to minions as well and recently picked up a gator army I would say that Posse are in some ways a must if you are playing in theme as most of the bonuses directly effect them. My armies usually include two units of them and I have seen people running more so thats a start. I have also heard great things about Wrong Eye and Snapjaw but I haven't had a chance to pick them up yet.

Seems like a solid list in my opinion though I really am not an expert. If you are going to get a Bokor + Shamblers I would suggest at least one Witch Doctor as those guys with tough are super annoying.

Should grab Bull Snapper early. He can be free in Blindwater theme so I often find I'm bringing one or two just by accident.

I've used them with tough back in Mk2 with Morvahnas green machine. Which was amazeballs.

If you are not already including a bull snapper than yes. The access to spiny growth on your caster is super powerful if you already have a bull snapper I would consider a Croak Hunter over a second one.

Barnabas going to arm 21 is nothing to sniff at. It's there any solo you would start with 2 of?

Animus, transfer target, Fury battery are all nice to have. Plus, if you put Rage on him he can launch out to reliably kill a troublesome solo (or at least force the opponent to respect his threat). POW 15 on an 11.5" threat against living isn't too shabby. I see. Barnabas going to arm 21 is nothing to sniff at. It's there any solo you would start with 2 of? Nah most of the good solos are characters (Lanyssa) or generally fine as just one.

As for solos to take duplicates of my only thought is the croc doc but that's only under Maelok for the extra application of undead.
