I'm fairly sure Makeda1's feat is worded like that because it's fluffy, it's the way her previous feat worked and there wasn't a particularly strong reason to change it.
She's denying death to her own soldiers because she still requires things of them. It doesn't make as much sense with statues driven by the souls of the dead, because she's forcing their bodies to go on with Mortitheurgy. Immortals don't have "bodies" but vessels.
The fact that it forces you to make choices regarding unit selection is bonus.

Both Mak's have the living condition on their staying death/void defiance abilities. I used to always play Hakaar or an AG with Mak2 pre great errata as a excellent finisher as stay death was warrior model, Dash+Storm rager on an Haakar/AG finished quite a few games for me. Anyway post errata its skornology all the way for exalted models and the boss in her early incarnations.

Played the Xerxis1 list I mentioned before into Morghoul1 last night. It worked out beautifully. My only change and regret was going with a Sentry over a Gladiator due to painted figures. Big mistake, since Rush would have solved 75% of my problems ending the game earlier. Final result was a concession once it became clear that my opponent lacked anything left on the board to deal with a Defender's Warded Tibbers in Morghoul's grill.
I personally liked this list much better than the Zaal2 incarnation I'd been playing recently. But Zaal2 is a defensive caster who on some level is asking your opponent to try to eat your army and then choke on his own dice, which is a less fun style of list to me than the feat and kill the world that Xerxis1 provides. I'm not sure if I'm more excited to play this or a Morghoul1 light beast missile force under Disciple of Agony.

Morghoul1 light beast missile force under Disciple of Agony. What is the idea behind that concept? Stacking some buffs like Primal Animus and Morghouls +2 Str as well as the beasthandlers whips +2 Str on a light beast to bring it to P+S 18?

I assumed morgoul 1 wanted archidons because of long leash and no glad tax. 15 +2(pgbh) +2(abuse) +3(fury) = pow 22 or pow 21 with primal instead so speed 9 charging 12" with a 10" control is sad. But 20" long leash is happy again

I also had a good number of Cyclops Brutes & Wrongeye to attempt to absorb a bit of punishment from opponent heavies while hitting almost as hard back into combat. I think it had like 3 Brutes and 4 Savages to trade. Still can't do shit against the 10 marauder armies, but that doesn't seem to that common anymore and doesn't exist locally. EDIT: Added the list here conflictchamber.com/#c9201b_-0H3Vji4y4y4y4A4A4A4A4CbF0U5V5V2NSkorne Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Disciples of Agony (CID) !!! Your army contains CID Merc/Minion theme inclusion. !!! You are using a pre-release theme. (Morghoul 1) Master Tormentor Morghoul [+30] - Battle Boar [7] - Cyclops Brute [8] - Cyclops Brute [8] - Cyclops Brute [8] - Cyclops Savage [7] - Cyclops Savage [7] - Cyclops Savage [7] - Cyclops Savage [7] - Cyclops Shaman [8] Wrong Eye [17] Farrow Bone Grinders (min) [5] Paingiver Beast Handlers (max) [7] Paingiver Beast Handlers (max) [7] Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew [2] Still one solo to choose for free, but I have no clue if it should be a Willbreaker or Master Tormentor.

Thank you for posting your list. I'm contemplating a swamp themed list based on Basilisks. Kreas will be p+s 18 weapon masters in the best case which is huge IMO. She will charge for free => 4 attacks => 32 damage to an ARM 20 heavy.

I like the idea, but the problem is turning on the krea's flank. You're really investing 15 pts (drake + krea) to get that done, and you lose the Drake in the counterattack because that's the weak link. Chiron is almost a requirement, but means taking Xekaar which is a totally different gameplan. Primal also means that you'll be often swinging at your own drake the turn after, instead of being a savage thrown up on his own and frenzying on its own.
If you want to really max it out, I think the cyclops list could drop Wrongeye, the brutes, and the shaman to get to a combination of 12 battle boars and savages. I think it might have more game sometimes, but is also much more obvious and one dimensional.

Won't we need at least 3 units of immortals to get our 12 points? 38 points for two units with the CA. It feels a bit weak, but the bonuses are good!

Models/units, so 2x Immortals + an AG gets you a Free AG and Free Hakaar. Ah, that's right! It's not so bad after all. Though I still think it's a little low in the free points, but of course, getting both Hakaar and an AG for free can never be a bad thing. I'm unfamiliar with the Death Rage ability, but I'm just going to assume it ignores the destroyed aspects of the beast performing his last punch. Anyway, this theme will probably be the final push I need to get that awesome construct army going. Here's hoping there are some interesting construct warbeasts coming our way in the near future! illrede> It's not out yet, but it should be out soon. I'm guessing this will be one of the many themes coming out in September.

Still want to see Mordikaar tweeked to let hollow work on immortals. If he could reliably get souls he might be better at running this theme than Zall2.

I'm unfamiliar with the Death Rage ability, but I'm just going to assume it ignores the destroyed aspects of the beast performing his last punch. Death rage does ignore removed aspects and also ignores freestrikes. Its accumulates even better on models with crit hit ; Rhinodon, Archidon, Tibbers, Mammoth Add potential feat from caster; Mak2 boosted hit for a round; Xer1 boosted damage for a round; Zaad2 multiple potential hits at +2 Mat/+2STR.. countercharge, defensive strike Overall its potentially worth just taking for Beast heavy lists.
