I'm not very good with battle reports, but here are my thoughts.
1. Bearka definitely felt like he should be upfront in the thick of things. With the change to the Kriel Stone, free upkeep of battle charged, and free animus each turn, I didn't find myself fury challenged during the game at all. Control wide concealment came in handy when he tried to stand back and just shoot me. Stumbling drunk on everything within 5" of the battle engine was pretty funny. At one point, my opponent tried to assassinate Bearka and he stumbled around the board so much he had to finally quit and attempt a strangle hold for fear of assassination by Bearka the next turn because Bearka got too close for comfort and my opponent couldn't kill him at DEF 16 Arm 22 from range. His survivability is great, but I got greedy at the end of the game and committed him to close when finishing Megalith. If I had been patient I would have won by attrition easily.
2. Hooch Hauler was amazing! The plus 1 Mat and Rat was a huge factor in the game and the oil/fire combo was extremely effective with the two 10" fire sprays.
3. The Ice Troll got real work done because even though several of my opponents models could not be knocked down, they could be made stationary. Along with the +2 cold damage from the NK Elder, they definitely had a direct impact on the game. Not to mention the threat of counter charge.
4. The Troll Basher was underwhelming. I can see where crit stagger could be awesome, but his one initial attack at pow 14 doesn't seem to be enough. A second initial with an open fist would make him better I think or make his melee attack cold damage .
5. The new elder was good with fellow Northkin models. His movement buff was nice at the beginning of the game and the +2 cold damage was really good. I'm not sure why anyone would take him over the original elder outside of the Northkin theme. He doesn't do anything for non Northkin models.
We have another game scheduled for Thursday and I'm going to try the ambushing bears, raiders, and Valka with Borka 1. Working on the list now.
