Hey all,
Just finished ETC and now that I can change lists I was wondering how people are finding 2017 SR. How are you adapting your lists?
I'm feeling that I need to take some more infantry (I never take any) and have been feeling that in situations where you have to contest, putting your Ravagore in is bad times...

With the change to solos no longer scoring circular zones I'm considering more mixed lists. It depends how live scenario actually ends up feeling with the change to going up by 5 because up by 6 was just assassination with flags.

Since the CID rules for SR2017 came out it has been the only rules my group has used. I still need to play more games with the changes PP announced to get a better feel for SR 2017 and we do not know anything else that may have changed. What I have figured out so far is: If I prioritize scoring over killing my opponent I lose. If I ignore scoring I lose, except for when I am all in for assassination. I need a mixed list. It is bad enough for my opponent to stop me from scoring I don't need to shut myself out (again barring 100% assassination ). Games take longer. SR 2016 games lasted about an hour in my meta and clock outs were rare. In SR 2017 clock outs have been far more common. Games to a full 7 rounds have been rare. We have only had 2 reach 7 so far. Most games end in attrition leading to assassination or senerio victory or by clock out. Senerio pressure is different, your opponent being up on you 4-2 at the start of your 3rd or 4th turn is not the end of the world. No need to look for a high risk-low chance assassination run. Play smart and go to 5-4. Now if there is a low risk-high chance run go for it.

If we start having to include units I am looking at a couple units of Blight Wasps in my Abby and Fyanna lists...
...assuming they can score as warriors?

Yeah I'm not sure if the scoring says "units" or "warrior units".

I guess I'm weird. I can't build a list without units...
Though the question about blightwasps is legit. I'm really curious how the wording will end up and if a slip up allows warbeast packs to score as units; will it be intentional.

I am an avid Vayl2 player, I was just wondering how everyone is doing with her in SR2017, with and without using a theme list. I want as much info on how people are coping.

I played sr17 only during CID. But I tried using more infantry becosue of changing meta + maybe i will need it for new steam roller and its nice. Hex hunters are nice in Oracles, especially with stealth. And i like raptors, riders and blightblades in ravens with twins. Fyanna also should do fine. Not sure about swordsmans due to lack of pathfinder but maybe i need to change attitude. Maybe legos and ogruns will git some love with our closest CID. Infantry not relying on Def to survive would be nice option to have.

So far it seems that:
- Taking two lists without any units won't be viable any longer. The scenarios are very spread out, you'll struggle to stay relevant on scenario for very long with pure battlegroup lists. - Ever since the change to winning by 5 instead of 6 scenarios have become vastly more live. It isn't quite as easy to lose on scenario if you refuse to commit as it was in 2016 but it's not too far off. - A large contributing factor to the above is that solos can score flags now. It's possible to score 3CP's in a turn if the opponent isn't careful enough to sufficiently contest zones or protect their objective especially in scenarios like The Pit 2.
Combined arms lists are coming into their own in the new Steamroller. Big/pure battlegroup is still playable but isn't as desirable as before.

Thinking of a scenario focussed Twins list in Ravens to try and score faster than the enemy due to two casters...

If you do that, you need a good plan to survive 7 turns, while contesting/scoring enough to not lose on szenario anyways.

I played Twins in Ravens a bit and I really liked them. It was mostly SR2016 so I could dominate early with Rhyas. But I think they scenario game will remain strong. Some risky scoring with Rhyas is still possible. Surviving isn't that hard. Most of the list have some ranged game and nice threat ranges. One ambush can always stay for later turns as a back up on falling flank. And after few turns enemy can forget about keeping away from board edges or be forced to get there.
If my environment would play 3 list format I would surely used them. In 2 list I strongly consider them but not sure yet, need to wait for final SR2017 and what meta will react.
