As the title asks I'm wondering if it might be time to cycle Fyanna2 Oracles out of competitive pairings to be replaced with Thagrosh1 or some other Warlock in the new Children of the Dragon.
JVM's Thagrosh1 list seems like the best starting point. For reference:
Legion Army - 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Children of the Dragon
(Thagrosh 1) Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight [+28]
- Azrael [21]
- Typhon [24]
- Zuriel [18]
- Succubus [4]
Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1]
Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1]
Blighted Nyss Warlord [0(5)]
Spell Martyr [1]
Blighted Nyss Raptors (max) [18]
Blighted Nyss Swordsmen (max) [15]
- Blighted Nyss Swordsman Abbot & Champion [0(6)]
Fyanna2 is a solid all-comers caster but also tends to fill the role as the brick breaker in pairings right now. The above list seems like it'd be similarly flexible with respectable ranged presence and also excellent damage potential for cracking open armor. The disadvantages are no amazing +3DEF and Dodge Feat and no access to Slipstream or Wraithbane.
Does Children of the Dragon feel too inflexible (due to missing key animii) to be a main list at this point? Should we be looking to pair Fyanna with Children? If so, does the community at large feel that a Fyanna + CotD pairing has adequate answers to guns?

Armor cracking and "no wraithbane" just do not go together in my mind. But even then you have armor buffs from non-spell sources. So it's going to be extremely tough, but not impossible. But other factions can put out Pow 19s without buffs. The fact that you have to start at pow 17 seems too detrimental. I know weapon masters are great. That would be your bigger focus for armor cracking. But with Threats like Denny1/2 and Haley2 out there. Fantastic infantry clear in Circle and Cygnar...
It's an uphill battle and by using the theme I think you're starting even further downhill. I don't dislike the theme.
But I'm no tournament player. So I guess I don't really know anything...

Fyanna2 is our best warlock and competitive list currently. This build allows for a different approach and a better chance to go first. That's why you take it. Thags1 is pretty durable overall and a lot of my lists with him tend to go without nagas. I discussed the thags list a bit and think it's better to go with double min swordsmen with UA than a single full unit.

No sure about replacing. But i have high hopes in quite efficient build. I don't like situations like Fyanna oracles build and meeting people with the same list. But I have scythean in Fyanna list so I can prentend I'm original As a Thagrosh1 fanboy I played it once but misplayed and got CK'ed fast. I will continue testing and post if I find somethig nice. 2x min swordsmen with free UA's could be nice. Thags is fine without Naga. I think with infantry you don't want to play him against Cygnar and Circle anyway. Which opens discussion for pairing. Not sure how I want to solve it yet. Do you think taking more beasts to 3 free cards level is worth it? With Azrael, Zuriel and Typhon it 12 more points to next free card. Soldier+Harrier, Blood seer + shredder, 2x soldier? It starts to be risky without forsakens and gobber cheff.

Thags is fine without Naga. I think with infantry you don't want to play him against Cygnar and Circle anyway. but... ugh. I would want to face Cygnar and Circle with a list like this before facing Khador or CoC. On average the arm/boxes are way more manageable. Might just be my experience. I have a hard time killing Cygnar under feat turns with Abby and Kryssa; both with wraithbane. I surely can't take Khador jack heavy with less.

whydak, something like this maybe? Thags1 doesn't strictly want all of the warbeasts in his BG and the Mistress module is fairly strong. It also helps to manage Thagrosh's Fury by offloading it onto the mistress. Legion Army - 75 / 75 points [Theme] Children of the Dragon (Thagrosh 1) Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight [+28] - Azrael [21] - Typhon [24] - Zuriel [18] Beast Mistress [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] - Shredder [4] Blighted Nyss Shepherd [1] Blighted Nyss Warlord [0(5)] Spawning Vessel (min) [5] Blighted Nyss Swordsmen (min) [9] - Blighted Nyss Swordsman Abbot & Champion [0(6)] Blighted Nyss Swordsmen (min) [9] - Blighted Nyss Swordsman Abbot & Champion [0(6)]

maximumhippoFree Mistress+3 Shredders was exactly what I was thinking after I read Azrael, Typhon, and Zuriel leaves 12 points until the 3rd card. The vessel also helps recycle the Swordsmen, though I'm not too keen on minimum units even with the effective DEF16 with Fog up. In my experience they tend to get shot off the table too quickly.

There's something to be said for how tough those 3 characters are with Thagrosh1.

So with the new CID change, Mercs/Minions are allowed, to an extent in Themes. This opens up heavies to the theme. I'm looking forward to testing some Twins with Wrong Eye/Snapjaw or maybe some Lylyth1 and Brigands.

Yeah assuming the change goes through Twins with Wrongeye & Snapjaw plus somebody in Ravens with Brigands sounds awesome.

Does Legion have any cool tricks with Rorsh & Brine? I've always loved the idea of the ninja pigs, but Mk3 themes had me hold-off on them.

Why do people want WE&SJ with the twins, again? I remember that was also a thing prior to theme lists as well.
