It has been quiet for a few days here so I thought I would take the chance to share a list that I'm real excited to try out (so long as the CID wagon and theme stays the same).
It currently plays 2 pts down, but I may consider swapping the Sons of Bragg for Sluggers and adding the stone UA. I'm leaving it for now as I suspect the wagon may not stay at 16.
High arm targets would have to die on feat turn.

Looks like a very solid core of a list, but i think it needs some refining.
The most glaring issue is that it is an anti infantry list that has no solution for incorporeal. Adding a sorcerer to the highwaymen would be very beneficial.
An issue that might be harder to tackle is that you really want to use the befuddle + highwaymen combo, and that is super strong, but calandra does not have access to the earths blessing animus or shield guards in the list. Perhaps it will be enough to try and block LoS to her with the WW and a beast on the turn she tries to befuddle, but then those two things will likely not do the max amount of work they could, so you are allowing the HWM to shoot down a heavy (or two) but you have like 30 points of your list that may not preform their best on that turn (and its probably the feat turn). Only table time with the list will show if this is a real issue, and against many lists, calandra will be just fine with just Bullet dodger and camping a few.
I personally really like the SoB with calandra. They are way harder to kill with her and they punch WAY harder than you might think on the feat turn. I would not change them for sluggers to free up points if i could help it.
Finding extra points is tough though. I am tempted to tell you to drop the Pyre. The fire eaters are totally fine without it, and 9 points of "support" for a 14 point package is a lot. The problem then is that you lack a transfer target. I think it is actually worth to drop the pyre for a swamp and a sorcerer for the HWM. The swamp itself can be really good with calandra. His animus is probably not as useful as you want for calandra herself, since if she casts it, she is camping 2 less, but the swamp itself could cast it and charge in to jam something up real good. A warbeast will be hard pressed to remove him under star crossed.

You're right. That's harsh. I forgot that I had to take the pair of Shamans out of the list because they are not in theme. I'll have to redojo and see if I can fit in a 2nd WW or a MK.

I do not think that really changes much. You can block LoS no probs, but the cost of doing so, in sub par activations is pretty big.

So I'm really coming up short here... is there any anti assassination tech available within the new theme?

Sure there is, play Borka1. He is pretty hard to kill. This is what I threw together:

Theme: No Theme Selected 87 / 75 Army
<! OVER POINT LIMIT !>
Borka Kegslayer - WB: +28 - Keg Carrier - Rök - PC: 21 (Battlegroup Points Used: 21) - Dire Troll Bomber - PC: 19 (Battlegroup Points Used: 7) - Swamp Troll - PC: 8
War Wagon - PC: 18
Braylen Wanderheart, Trollkin Outlaw - PC: 5 Fell Caller Hero - PC: 5
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 3 Grunts: 6 - Stone Scribe Elder - PC: 3 Pyg Bushwhackers - Leader & 9 Grunts: 15 - Pyg Bushwhacker Officer & Mortar - Officer & Mortar Pyg: 5 Trollkin Sluggers - Leader & 4 Grunts: 10

I think Horgle will be a popular caster as well with Solid Ground and high Arm.
I typically favor the 7 and 8 fury support casters. That theme may force me to get out of my bubble a bit. Lol.

Im not sure my point got across so ill reiterate. Calandra can easily play in the theme, but IF you want to build a list around befuddle she will be further up than normally and then she may be in trouble. It is totally worth playing a couple of times to be sure though.

There are some lists that I would be list locked against without some form of anti assassination tech though. I play against Retribution with their archers often and that unit alone would put me in assassination threat every turn within 21 inches of them. That's rough.

Do they really hit a DEF 16 (plus terrain) Calandra under star crossed? Even with Raevyn feat that is a tall bill for RAT 5, and for every miss, you could back off 2". The scary problem is the banshee imo. If that guy hits (still a boosted 11 under star crossed, so it is by no means automatic) you are basically auto dead to the archers. The banshee threatens a bit shorter though, and only ignores LOS blocking with 3 casters (yeah... thats Ret for ya...)

Yeah sorry. I didn't describe that well. With all of their movement tricks and boosted attack knockdown ability through spells/arc nodes/banshee I imagine every turn starting with a "let's see if I get a spiked roll on this knockdown..."
If yes, game over. If no, continue as usual.
