I wanna know what the background is for some of the new casters. Brief though it probably is. I'll probably collect the books for the factions I play.

I bought the MKII forces book for my first faction (Ret) but I never felt the need to buy them when i started additional factions. I had the cards and War Room. I suspect I will do the same for the MK3 command books. I like the fluff but I never have time to read it anyway.

I have not bought them. I sorta stopped reading the fluff when the storylines kind of started to stagnate (though i'll admit what little i have read from very late MK2 from the last book released, and the "time lapse" fluff was cool).
My main problem is that I enjoy non-fiction reading a lot more than fiction, particularly a LOT more than sci-fi/fantasy fiction. I like to read a lot, so to read something i'm hesitant on already isn't at the top of my list when i have a list of literally hundreds of books i want to read.
So the books for me are mostly about rules. However when the rules are spoiled on the web, there's that must less impetus to buy the books for me.
I full realize everyone else's mileage may vary. I just have too many old edition books sitting on my shelf i never look at, or touch, in any way. I really don't need more. And offloading those when they take up too much room for new stuff is usually hard, and ends up in a massive loss on bartertown which are other discouraging factors.

I'm open to getting the Cryx command book if the fluff in new and interesting. I found that the big book fluff was to much of a rehash. If that is the case wuth the command books the I'll probably not bother.

I will purchase my factions books for fluff. As others have said, I like to read and enjoy well crafted expansive worlds.

I'm happy to buy books for fluff, but even that is minimal in these books. PP has moved all plot advancement over to thier Skull Island releases.

I'm happy to buy books for fluff, but even that is minimal in these books. PP has moved all plot advancement over to thier Skull Island releases. And I enjoy the Skull Island books, but they tend to ignore most non-Cygnar faction in those books. If they could produce more books to give a better spread of the fluff and address all factions in some way that would be great. Not sure that they have the staff for that. For now, books like these are all we get.

I'm not sure If I'll purchase my Faction's Command Book. I like having all the info in an easily-browseable format (and being a bit of a Luddite, I prefer browsing hard copies), but I've heard that the Command Books aren't complete, and that some entries are being withheld for upcoming Theme books. If true, that would really neuter their usefulness as references...
And speaking of Theme Books, when they were first announced, I assumed that they would be big books of numerous Themes, but it sounds instead like they are going to be a single Theme Force per book (or maybe a few related ones, like one for each 'flavor' of Man-O-Wars). If that's the case, I think Theme Books will be an even harder sell than the Command Books- with only 1-3 pages of rules and the rest fluff (or padding, depending on your point of view), the price point would have to be very, very low to get me to buy them.

I was hoping they'd be more-or-less comprehensive. In MkII, I never bought all those supplemental books that only had a couple new units for each faction. I had the Khador book, the Mercs book, and the Circle book, because those are the only models I used.
I'd hope that the Khador Command book would include at least all the units that we have cards for, as well as the appropriately updated theme forces. But if they're going to milk it, I'll pass.
In a similar example, GW finally released the rules for the Fallen Dark Angels in the latest "Fall of Cadia" supplement... but there's no way I'm going to pay $50 for 4 pages of rules. The models for the formation cost less than that!

I'll buy my faction books. I like having books in hand. I won't buy them all though.

We agree that PP books in the future won't have any model stats in them at all, right?
