Oh yes, I know who Tholme is! I read all those old dark horse clone wars era comics. I was a big fan of Aayla Secura and Vos.
I’ve only played the Fantasy Flight system a couple times but it seems real solid. And I like it’s emphasis on actually role playing through stuff.

Speaking of, I'm thinking about starting work on a new campaign since a fair amount of my free time is in the middle of the night. I really don't care for D&D 5E or the new L5R so I'm shopping for a new system. Anybody got any suggestions? If you want a crunchy game with lots of options and rules where you are working to mitigate existential threats the human race, play Eclipse Phase, it is awesome. If you prefer more abstract games, the Dresden Files RPG and Fireborn are both very cool. If you like the webcomic Schlock Mercenary, Planet Mercenary is an in-world RPG and the Mayhem mechanic is one of the coolest things to help push roleplaying I have seen.

I like Genesys as well, which is the same system without a specific setting.

I'm about to embark on my first Call of Cthulu, and I hear good things. I'll keep you posted I prefer the Collect Call of Cthulhu, myself.

I'm a big fan of the IKRPG, but I find that licensed settings can be a pretty big turn off for players who aren't familiar with them.

Eclipse Phase is a strong possibility. I like a lot of the mechanics in the abstract game systems like FATE but generally speaking I end up stealing ideas and incorporating them into crunchier rulesets, since there's not really enough game there for my taste. As a rule I try to avoid licensed settings, but as a card carrying member of the Beg, Borrow, & Steal School of GMing they're always worth a look.

It's not like every DnD game is set in Greyhawk. I plan to refluff some of the races and use it for game of sky pirates and airships set on an alien world after a Macross style colony fleet crashed on the planet.

It's not like every DnD game is set in Greyhawk. I plan to refluff some of the races and use it for game of sky pirates and airships set on an alien world after a Macross style colony fleet crashed on the planet. I've thought about it, but something like D&D or GURPs that's designed as setting neutral fits a wide variety of campaign concepts. If I'm using the Star Wars RPG but setting it in my own universe, at a certain point it's difficult to justify all the Jedi running around. IKRPG has a lot of Jedi. My typical pool of players are generally game for a new system, but with IK I've had an issue with people coming in from other games who are basically like "Okay, I want to play a Fighter." And I'm like, "Sounds good, let's take a look at Duelist, Bounty Hunter, Iron Fang, Knight, Man-at-Arms, Military Officer, maybe Stormblade, or how about Brigand, Chieftain, Fennblade, Kriel Champion, Long Rider, Monster Hunter, Raptor, Ravager, Ryssovass, Warrior, Wolf of Orboros, Wolf Rider, and oh, let me break out the magazines while you read all of those. Be sure to ignore all of the fluff parts. Then we'll go through and figure out what all the Abilities do so you know what you're looking for" and they've already jumped out the nearest window ten minutes ago.

So, on a more mundane topic.
I just spent over 90 minutes trying to find and order socks online. When did it become nearly impossible to sort and find items when shopping online? Good grief.
Like, gee-eff-dee, would it KILL you to add a shoe size selector, for starters, Amazon? Come on.

Assuming that you are referring to Plant Mercenary as the licensed setting, it is not. The author and a multiple-award-winning RPG designer Kickstarted it. The author wrote basically all the fluff and the gear is almost all based on gear that has been seen in the comic. If you want a high-tech setting that is not transhuman-pushing-posthuman, then this is the system that I would recommend over all others.
