I like the idea of having a list that plays into guns reasonably well, and one that shoots reasonably well.
The Grim2 list:
The earthborn will get mirage, and be popping out 2” from my deployment zone on my first turn (hopefully to within 2” of some rough terrain). I love mirage on the EBDT because it allows him to take advantage of an obstruction and as long as he’s within 4” of some rough terrain, he can benefit from that as well when he activates. EBDT max threat range is 15” (13” with rage), and if Grim shoots his target, he can charge for free.
Obvious synergies are Bombers and Mage sight, Janissa for freeing up the bombers, Chronicler for tale of mists on Grim2, etc… POD provides just about everything Grim2 wants to have a good day (other than a ranged unit).
Borka1:
This is more of a keep it simple stupid list. Shield guards everywhere make picking out important pieces from range difficult.
Fennblades are pretty bonkers in this list. 15” threat range (18” with vengeance); defense16 against range and immune to magic (arcane ward + tale of mists). They make a great jam unit, and with cleave, they can potentially clear out a jam unit.
Champs really shine in this list if you get all your synergies going. Charge of the trolls + stone strength = mat 9, pow 14 weapon masters. With a couple bouncers in the list, triggering charge of the trolls becomes a little easier.
I’ve only played these lists a handful of times, but they’re both fun, and both seem to compliment each other fairly well.
