Maybe I'm just late to the party but G4's feat does seem good against lists that just wanna jam like there is no tomorrow.
Then again with the changes coming to steamroller, maybe those won't exist so much.
Only reason I say this is a buddy of mine loves to jam me with almost all his lists and G4 feat would be nice to help against that.
Then again....i am no pro player.

As a cryx player....Im glad we got the good goreshades. 😛 I hate your new mass RFP. Looks like i need to get to work on a dedicated ret list to pair. I actually think he is a pretty good caster, not amazing and certainly not the new coming of Haley but he works and has some neat tools. I feel like in a beast/jack heavy meta, access to backlash with MHSF and ghost snipers may be underrated.

I think Kaelyssa does the backlash game far better than he does, it seems like a super strange spell to put on him.

Not necessarily building for it, in which case i'd agree, more like just as a tool to have on the dude given the options in faction and the current state of the meta.
I also kind of think while arcane vortex can be kind of meh, field marshal arcane vortex may well be a different story, the footprint of coverage gets a lot bigger and the faction has at least a couple jacks that actually can get something out of camping focus. I mean its at least another nice option for people in debuff caster heavy environments, saying no to parasite or curse of shadows is always a good thing.

Ironically, I think his anti-Haley2/3 game would be one of his strongest points. Maybe he can be the demise of Haley instead? (now all I have to do is construct a list which also handles Nemo3 and Sloan and we're in business)

I need to get more time in with G4. I think he's a solid toolbox, even as I find myself wishing they had picked 2 themes instead of 3 (Life/Ice/Anti-Magic) to make him a little more focused. Not sure which of the three I'd cut though so maybe that's the problem. Either way more testing is needed.
I do think his feat is a defense/denial feat. I'm thinking Bottom of One/Top of Two with either Halbs or Ryss (or Destors if they ever lose the Lance rule) just out of charge range. You get concealment and basically force them to give up any models they try to jam with. Again, needs more testing.

Might be heretical thought but, G4 kind of seems like he might want a gorgon for feat turn.
Shoot one heavy, advance into a second heavy to force lock, reserve a focus or two, feat, Arcane vortex any buffs (sprint animi) they try to put on the forcelocked heavy and your lil light has really put the halt on a section of the battlefield.

How is the gorgon getting to shoot and then move? Assuming you are running dual gorgons, you will likely want Eiryss to disrupt one in order to limit their ability to wreck it. There are some combos I can see working such as using a Banshee to knock a jack down and then running past to forcelock them from the back so that even with shake off they're still having to put some extra work into taking it down.

Derp
He's shooting and moving through the magic of confusing rules by having played too much harkevich in the past.

How is the gorgon getting to shoot and then move? Elara Jr. I had not thought of that but the person I quoted, I believe they were talking about having the Gorgon in G4's battlegroup.
