OK, the CID is out. What do people think? Is it time to crack out the Arcanist Corp and drop a ton of money on this thing (assuming it stays the same or gets better)?

I don't think we have enough synergy with dwarves to make it worth it. If we could take the hammer dwarves it might have been a different thing, but as it stands I wouldn't blow money on that perticular combo in Khador.

Well again I mention that we can last stand em if need be.

Last stand is friendly faction, so you need Valachev in there and that means no shield wall on the gun dwarves, I'm really not sure it is worth the 38 points package.

If you have a dwarf army lying around you can use it with Sorscha 1 or 2 quite well even without Valachev. It may provied an interesting list pair opporutnity. I'm not buying dwarves for it though.
The cover is interesting though. It's our only model with Roadblock, can be useful for casters outside of themes instead of taking Bokur/Rager. Field guns/Marauders/Freezes can fix the rat or just simply shoot colossals/other BE with it. If you shoot huge bases with it it does more damage than anything we have in Faction for example, and without focus drain. I can see non-theme B3 taking it, or Z2.

I was thinking B3 as well. He will appreciate the cover and guns. I may stuff it into a for funsies list. I have no idea if this would be competitive...but it looks fun.

Can we get more details on the reinforcements rule? I'm not familiar.

What are the CID rules for the Siege Crawler?

Here it is: So RAT 6, MAT 6, ARM 20 with 40 (!) boxes seems legit. SPD 5 is a pain, but run turn 1 and then act as bodyman for Butcher. Bulldoze on a 120mm base seems legit and if you tuck one TAC away safely you're looking at endless recursion (not OP because they can't attack when placed, but nifty). You get Dual Attack with 4-6 gun attacks. I think piece that caught my eye most is cover. You get cover anytime any part of your base is obstructed by any part of the covering models base, which seems pretty legit for das Butcher. Now I've got a 120mm, bulltdozing, 40 box gun platform granting me cover. At 18 points, I'm basically replacing a 13-14 point jack and losing a solo. Not a sure bet, but looks neat to try once with a proxy.

The crawler has always looked like a fairly decent Butcher delivery vehicle. Bulldoze and Roadblock are a pretty nice combo.
It's now also the toughest battle engine you can get.
I'm not instantly seeing much use for the Reinforcement rule in Khador though. High Shields aren't bad, but they are a lot better in faction.

That's a lot of boxes and a lot of rules. Is it fair that I'm starting to get worried about power creep, or was the Seige Crawler so underpowered before that this is simply bringing it in line with the rest of the game?

Is it fair that I'm starting to get worried about power creep, or was the Seige Crawler so underpowered before that this is simply bringing it in line with the rest of the game? I don't think it was any more underpowered than the other battle engines, but that's probably not saying much. This CID seems about bringing battle engines up to the level of equivalently priced warjacks. But without the ability to use focus, that means giving additional strengths. The Crawler's best offensive feature is the Stagger ability, but without the ability to boost the critical hits are too unreliable. I think Fire for Effect is the only way to do it, and that's Friendly Faction only. So it still suffers from the inability to use focus. In terms of power creep, it's only gained boxes and Reinforcements, which seems more like a gimmick to me. TAC are only 3 model units which are likely to be wiped out so the rule won't see much play with them. Highshields aren't really worth mentioning except maybe as a punchline. Forgeguard might be able to use it, but they have to die, be brought back and then survive the next turn to be very useful. Maybe most useful in replenishing a mortar which has had one or two members killed? But that forces the Crawler to stay further back, meaning it isn't using all its other tools.

I'm interested to see how the playtest comes out on the recursion. I read one post of a game on the CID where the dwarf player fielded two of them, and returned a bucketload of weaponmasters during the game...

I think that actually taking high shields with B3 might be not a bad idea. He doesn't particularly care about his units anyway.
