Dear all I think it is about time that I clean up in the stuff I have been painting and somewhere to use as motivation to finish more stuff. Not surprisingly, I'm mostly paint Khador. However, sometimes I have to get a break from red... As I really like to play painted. I don't mind what is on the opposite of the table, but at least my part of the table should be painted. I'm generally aiming for table top quality - perhaps better; but I'm easily bored. Anyway, I'll start with some group shots Sorscha3 leading Jaws of the Wolf Malakov2 leading Wolves of Winter Sorscha3 leading Armored Korps Vlad1 leading (my, to date most successful) Winter Guard Kommand Irusk2 leading Winter Guard Kommand Table of content WarcasterWarjacksFor the Motherland!

Damn, your army looks great! I'd love a close-up of S3 and B09, those whites look good in the group shot so I'd like to see in more detail. Btw I like your bases too, much more interesting than my own snow bases.

Neat.
I like the open shields on the right MoW.
The winter themed bases are a joy to see.
I'd also want some close ups.

It is hard to avoid a chalky look. Sorcha here to keep her pet on a leash Not so happy with her. My excuse is that this was using my old glasses. One of these days I what to redo her Neat. I'll just have to dig pictures out, or take some. As an extra bonus I found a picture of Malakov2 leading Wolves of Winter. I have added it to the initial post. Stay tuned For the Motherland

I have manage to dig out some images of my colossal. First up is a Judicator, finally in Empress approved colours. A proper colossal. The mighty Conquest. Finally, not a proper colossal, but nevertheless the Old Witch on Scrapjack sr. More to come. For the Motherland!

Very cool! Clean work with some nice shading, and your reds are so vibrant! Thank you. I'm following the classic Privateer Press recipe for two brush blend. Red in the middle, dark read and blue as shadow; orange and peach as highlights, and the 15 layers of thin ink. It takes forever, but makes a very vibrant red. I have had a bit of success with dry brushing (with a very wet paint - if that makes sense) the peach one. I my experience, it works best on large surfaces. I don't think I can get it to work so well on smaller ones. However, when it works, it is very pretty

Try a ratio of 10:1.5 water:ink (or, 2 drops red ink, 20 drops water, if you prefer) and you can achieve the same results in 3-4 coats at maximum. That whole “15 coats” thing is for the birds!

I got a few more pictures of 'jacks. Three from the archive, and Devastator #1 freshly painted. Devastator #1. The classic metal paper weight version. Pristine factory new. Devastator #2. In winter camouflage (do not eat yellow show - it is not beer). Spriggan #1. In a version of the 5th border legion colours. Rusty and in need of maintenance. Finally, Marauder #1. Running the slam the enemies of the Empress. More to come... For the Motherland!

Cool stuff. I like Devastator #1, though I'm surprised you left the head-spike in red and not steel. The photo of #2 is a little bloomed out; no surprise with a white model on a dark background.
The rust on Spriggan #1 is a bit too random and kind of looks like camo; rust tends to form in recesses where water is more likely to sit around for longer, than on edges and the centers of armour plates. Also rust effects look best when you give them a thin outline of steel and/or a lighter colour paint; this simulates the paint cracking as the steel underneath rusts. Well, that's what I've read, I don't really have that much experience with weathering.
The Marauder looks great, nice contrasts and I like the touch of weathering on the rams. The bases are nice too!

Thank you Soul Samurai. I'm aware of the issues with the green Spriggan. I was just a young Winter Guard conscript when that was painted and to be honest, it has not seen a lot of table time since. One day I might strip it and redo it.

I have found some more 'jacks. Drago is among the best sculpts in the game. I so wish his abilities were as well Almost the opposite: Ruin is among the best 'jacks in the game, with an average sculpt. More to come... For the Motherland!
