As you have seen, Trencher Cannon Crew and Trencher Master Gunner got discounted, -2/-1 and become point cost 4/3 respectively. Before that two guns and master gunners costs 20 points but now it only costs 14 points.
So, are they worth a look for now?
Well, even before the discount, their damage per point was already good - two POW 13 shots with Brutal Damage means a gun+master gunner package cause better damage than a Charger, and while it can't cause a big damage enough to expect fast crippled system but it can damage ARM 20 or less(and against ARM 21+ you can't do much with any of your guns and you better grab your sword). It is not terribly accurate unlike Charger but still RAT 6 is enough to aim the heavy, and if you bring the cannon then you shouldn't expect anything other than armor cracking.

Although it is annoying that it cannot move, shoot and Dig In in the same turn but there was a brilliant mind that says 'Your gunner may move and shoot while the other grunts can move and Dig In, then if your gunner is dead and use Take Up the gunner now has Dig In.' some years ago. So even without any screening models they have decent rate of survival and making them self-sufficient, unlike most weapon crew units that needs protection to survive.
As a 10/20 points package, its annoying problem make us to avoid it, but will being 7/14 points make us to think twice and tolerate its annoyance?
What about the real experience of them before the discount(since the only change for them is the discounted point cost)? I didn't used them, although I do have some experience for using Weapon Crew but it was Horgenhold Artillery Corps so while its role(armor cracker) is same as trencher cannon but the way to use it is totally different(I was use horgenhold artillery behind of my line, thanks to Arcing Fire and good RNG). Is there anyone actually deployed them? For now almost all players are pick the theme force and only Gravedigger(you won't think that it is a good idea to bring them on the Resistance, will you?) allows them but are they a worthy pick at there?
And... although I have no interest for play Infernal but are they have any uses on Hearts of Darkness? I doubt that they have much place since Sloan1 wants more Hunters and they are also good at armor cracking.
