Hello, folks! I want to paint my IK Undercity minis, but I can't get primer to cure on them. Primed them twice, and both times the primer remained tacky. I've read on some sites about different techniques for painting soft minis; I've seen gesso, and thinned Elmer's glue mentioned. These remind me of Reaper's Bones minis, which Reaper says not to prime at all. Has anyone here painted these? Any tips or tricks?

I have not. I remember there being a lot of discussion on this topic a few years ago when Widower's Wood released, but I can't say I remember anything helpful. Sorry!

Did you wash the minis with detergent before priming? What kind of primer did you try: brush-on, aerosol, airbrushed? I think I heard that treating bones minis by heating them somehow can help, but I don't know the details. I just checked youtube and there's a lot of videos on priming Reaper Bones minis, I'm sure you can find some answers there.

Yessir, I washed them, but I've sprayed them twice and both times had to strip them due to the paint remaining tacky for days afterward. I used spray primer from Walmart, but I've used this brand a zillion times without issue on metal, hard plastic, and resin minis. I'm going to test paint one of the models without priming and see what results I get.
