I played total of 12 games, so 1 game / week, most games online. Not as much I would had wanted to, but at least something. Opponent were: Circle, Infernals, Khador, Legion, Mercenaries, Menoth, Retribution and Skorne.
Lets first talk a bit about the lists.
Helga2 list is something that trolls had never been able to play hit-and-run. Low model count and even fewer models that actually do something, but fit current meta well. This list can shoot archons away for quite long distance and hit like a truck from quite long distance so in ideal world you get first some shooting and then 2 alpha strikes. It it also really resilient for shooting thanks to trenches and 3 shield guard. Burrowers are there to jam enemy and contest their zone so you can back up whit all the important models and lookouts are for hunting enemy support.
This list plays against static enemy like Infernals and Menoth whose threat range is maximum of 12".
Maddrak3 is more like normal troll list. Bears, high armor and hit like a truck. Mostly player defenders ward on glacier king so it can be centerpiece anchor and threaten enemy and be really pain to remove. On same time I have 3 really good counter charges to mess enemy plans and 3 shield guards that is something I had dreamed years.
I think that Bumbles and Boomhowler3 are actually really well designed and balanced peaces. On paper they sounds broken as shit, but in actual games they are really hard to get doing job. Boomhowler3 is really squishy for 8p solo and most games Bumbbles just took 1 scenario point or killed some less important infantry. But have to admit that just there presence or their counter charges is really hard to valuate this side of table.
And I have really missed playing fire-eaters. They are just so good (no, they are not broken and they most often do only 0.6 attack per model, but I still love them).
Both casters are really hard to kill and let be play them quite forward that fit my play style. Maddrak3 is the all-rounder list that get game on every match-up and Helga2 is tailored mostly for infernals but best feedback of her was actually game against skorne where opponent said that Helga2 is one of the casters he fear most with Makeda3. We played twice and first lost with Maddrak3 and then won with Helga2.
Next quarter is starting and have to lock next caster pairing. As first quarter was for me testing and fine-tuning current tournament pairing (Maddrak3 list I had actually never played before this league, but is was made to pair with Helga2 as Borka2 I had played before player too similar game than Helga2.) For next quarter I pick something totally different that let me test some new models and different approach to trolls.
