So this year I will be going to the Southern Ontario Open for the first time, I don't have enough painted models to run in the iron gauntlet, I will run in the Masters Trinity. I'm listing my lists and see if I missed something about bad match up and the like. Or just general questions.
1st list, the one I know like the back of my hand. Winterguard Kommand Strakhov1 Conquest Juggernaut Juggernaut Grolar Full winterguard infantry +3 rocket +Ca Kovnik joe Winterguard Field gun Objective: Bunker
I can drop that list in most match ups and be confident it will perform well, it's not an auto win but it has tools to do a lot of work. With advance move on two jacks it also has a good scenario presence.
2nd list: The ghost fleet drop, which doubles as an armor cracker(weird I know) Butcher3 Ruin Kodiak Behemoth Full Ulhan Ragman Bokur Orin Kell Gobber thinker Objective Armory Basically use the magic attacks to get rid of blackbane, hope for the objective to make it easier, deal with it if not, ulhan under silence of death make decent pirate killer. Once the feat is done, butcher can do a lot of work himself. Not going to be an easy win, but there's a game to be had.
3rd list, the new kid on the block Legion of steel Strakhov2 Juggernaut Kodiak Markov IFK IFK Great bears Full ulhans Full pikemen +CA Full black dragon +CA Objective Bunker Only played 3 games with the list so far, but it was 3 overwhelming victory against good player playing Legion, Ret and Cygnar so this one looks good even though I don't have much experience with the list.
Any blind spot I'm missing? Or just questions on the pairing in general?

I like it! I think all three look pretty fun.
I think I will try to get out for the Saturday and play some pickup games at least.

I don't like lack of war dog on B3. Or Madelin. I don't know how you play him, but I'm getting an assassination attempt on him every single game due to his nature of play, attachment helps keeping him alive.
Other than that seems okay.

I play butcher pretty far back and have yet to have people try to assassinate him in melee, both loss with him (out of 12 mk3 games with him) have been scenario loss. People have tried assassination attemps on him but only with magic and ranged attack and all of them have failed so far. I tend to use the rest of the list as ablative armor, it's been working so far. He's a bully but I don't tend to use him too agressively since I know he can be killed, he's on the tankier side as far as warcaster goes, but that doesn't mean he's invincible.

Love the lists, I hope to see you at the SOO but not to face you as I would have a tough time vs your lists!

Lists look great!
I never got around to liking Strakhov 1 myself, but I like the way you've put your list together!
I'm planning on heading out to the open for my first time as well tomorrow. Sounds like it'll be a good time.

Quick recap of what happened to me at the SOO,
Game one, against JVM playing legion, he is pretty well known from what I heard, game was quick, Strakhov1 against Fyanna2 in oracle of annihilation, scenario was entrenched, I made a mistake on turn two, only letting two juggernaut in my zone, close enough to be repulsed out by a single angelius, he dominated his zone, destroyed my objective (not much I could do against that, the list with all the flying circus is really fast). He got up to three scenario points and had his feat up. Had to go for an assassination, fyanna was only camping two in his zone, I managed to get a grolar with superiority up to her by triggering overrun with the conquest killing his objective in melee, the grolar survived a free strike from an angelius and one from a neraph, he didn't cripple any system (he would have needed to spike to do so). So with a superioritied grolar now in melee with Fyanna I needed a 9 to hit her and know her down, killing her at this point would have been trivial with the gun shots and extra hammer attacks, but I rolled an 8, she dodged away, I lost on the turn after that. My plan wasn't risky but I needed that boosted 9, did not get it.
Game two, my opponent gave me the win before we even set up our models because he wanted to go eat, and probably dropped, so I got a free win that round.
Game three was a khador off, Butcher3 vs Harkevich in jaws of the wolf with 9 jacks I think. Scenario was take and hold. Big attrition battle, I was wining on scenario and attrition but grinding through all this metal took too much time on my clock, I lost when my clock ran out, 1 round away clearing my flag and wining. When my clock ran out I had butcher, a clean behemoth, ragman and some ulhans to clear a maraudeur and a wardog (both in impending doom range with butcher still on his flag, my opponent only had a cortexless kodiak too far away to contest and his caster left. Should have managed my clock better, could have won that one.
I dropped after that.
Both games I played were good games, I obviously made some mystakes since I lost, but I don't feel like I was getting my ass kicked or that I couldn't do anything, my assassination run against Fyanna had good odds of killing her, but luck failed me, the other game was a grindfest and I was coming out on top, gotta manage my clock better next time.
Played some iron arena, played in the team tournament overnight but I was playing my friends legion since I replaced him after his first game when he left to go to sleep, played two legion game with Kallus2, I mean Kallus2 has overrun, so does Strakhov, how hard can it really be to play him? I won one and lost one, not bad from my two first legion and hordes mk3 games.
Had a fun convention, will be returning next year if works allows it.
Now time to try steamroller 2017

Glad to hear you had fun Auraco!
I will write up a little bit more when I recover/am more awake! Ended up going 3-1, with some fun games in there. I would certainly do it again!
Game 1 I got crushed by the Witch Coven - (Old Witch didn't quite work out the way I wanted her to into that list, probably should have dropped Sorscha 1 instead... oh well, live and learn). I misunderstood how veil of mists worked and granny ended up with a seether in her face.
Game 2 was Butcher 3 into Ragnor into the Dhunia theme - Very grindy, two walls of heavies crashed into one another. My opponent made the mistake of hurting one of the dogs, so butcher vengeanced forward and flashing bladed his way to a charge lane on Ragnor and did what Butcher do.
Game 3 was Butcher 3 into Fyanna 2 in Oracles of Annihilation- A manhunter tanked far more attempts to kill it than it ever should have... Butcher tried to impending doom two Angelius and a Neraph out of her feat zone (unfortunately only killed the two angelius)... there was a bit of a mishap here where my opponent was marking damage on the wrong cards by accident, but we managed to work it out. Ended up slowly grinding his beasts down. My opponent threw in the towel after a nearly clocking out and not seeing a way to close the assassination.
Honourable Mention - Devastators and kodiaks ... rain of death and vent steam proved very useful for inflicting at least some damage on squishy legion heavies during Fyanna's feat turn
Game 4 was Old Witch into Helynna - Got off a lucky Gallows turn one that yanked a manticore into convenient doom reaver charge range. The opponent seemed unwilling to commit either of his two squads of sentinels allowing me to take early objective pressure (probably didn't help that a forest got in his way). Game ended with scrappy rolling 3 sixes to blow up his objective on a charge after kell had plugged it a couple times.

Good work. The coven are a Cryxy bunch of people. Also btw, Sorscha1 is pretty much a counter to Fyanna2. +3 DEF means nothing when you are stationary And Butcher is just Butcher. Always a good choice.

welshhoppo : Yep, that one's on me. Once I realized what I was dealing with I had a self facepalm moment and glanced longingly at the tray with my sorscha list. There's not much legion in my local meta and I got her confused in my head with Kryssa for some dumb reason. Though the configuration of terrain may have made making full use of Sorscha's feat a little problematic...
