Im not 100% sure but im pretty certain that PP stopped printing the army books/codexes/command pretty early on in Mk3. Due to CID etc whatever was printed in them rules and model stats wise would be very much out of date by now. All stats etc are available via WarRoom or the online cards database.

The books have been superseded by the CID process and the online Card Database + War Room 2.
They have some nice artwork and some minor fiction in them, but that’s about it.
Oblivion (later this summer) is going to be different, though, as it will be a new print book.

wow glad I asked,
I was thinking about picking up a few so I could get fluff, photos or painted models and have the info on building armies.
Follow up questions.
How is the fluff / Back story handled? I remember they had all the fluff all set when the game came out that was very cool. Then they started the story of Khador march south taking new lands which advanced the story into MK2 I think and Hordes release advanced it more.
So if someone wants to read up and get up to date where do we start? I see a lot of the old books for $5 would they be worth picking up for fluff and photos?

For a first general look i would recommend warmachineuniversity.com/ that will have all the rules and models with thier stats and some of the fluff. Good for reference, but no good for building lists. For playing you have 2 options. Either download the card for free from PP or get a copy of the WarRoom 2 app which is the official app for WM/H which, for a price gets you all the cards and rules electronically, updated with each CID for the lifetime of the edition. There are other online army builders like Conflict Chamber (which i rate highly if you want ot follow stats end events) which can also help you.

Thanks for that info. I have been reading from the University but not a lot of fluff there. I have the warroom app on my phone but haven't put any cash into it at this point. I'm old school and like hard copies of stuff. Which is weird as I'm a IT working for a copier company we do just about everyone digitally. wow glad I asked, I was thinking about picking up a few so I could get fluff, photos or painted models and have the info on building armies. They're not army books but FWIW, Aeryn Rudel has penned a few books that detail the recent (Mk III) backstory of Cygnar re-entering Llael to fight occupying Khador... Flashpoint, Aftershock and now Stormbreak. The latter has some Crucible Guard story, too. They're available digitally and in print on the PP site, Amazon, etc.
Might want to read Doug Seacat's book Blood of Kings first, for some former story arc wrap up, and to set up for the jump in the timeline, if you're in need of catching up.

I will check out The Blood of Kings for sure. I didn't think too much about novels but they are great sources of info. I will see what I can find locally.
I recall most of the basic info from the Original Rule book fluff wise but I know they where changing stuff with the stories and I don't know what all happened with that so catching up would be good for me.

Catching up is done mostly through the novels. They still haven't done an omnibus of the existing fluff spread throughout the old rulebooks/expansion books/NQ, even though people have been begging them for years. They were supposed to do this in "The Fire and the Forge" in No Quarter Prime and on the website after that was discontinued, but so far only 2 articles have been released through the latter medium.

I work in IT systems, AI and machine learning. But in my personal life I prefer things low tech and enjoy manual tasks, physical hobbies (like painting miniatures) and try to keep my IT usage to a "useful minimum". But I did find the WarRoom app one of those useful apps. But I think its better on a large tablet than on a small smart phone. TBH, whatever makes you happy is how you should play. Cheers!

I'm a programmer; perhaps it's because I spend so much time in front of a screen that I like the physical aspect of miniature games. I much prefer physical cards to a phone app (although checking model cards on my phone is certainly handy when I'm not around my cards).

I don't mind reading novels for sure. One thing I liked about the original rule book is the fluff for each caster and the little short stories. Checked the local library and looks like they have In Thunder Forged so guess I will start with that one.

I'm in the same all the time in front of the screens all week at work I don't like looking at them on weekends. I gave my laptop to my son because I didn't use it for 6 months, now work gave me one to help with emergency issues and while not in the office I might use it 2-3 hours a month all for work.
I have read a few books on the Kindle Fire and it is pretty nice I would rather have a book in my hand most of the time.

If you pick up the Grymkin book you can see what PP's vision of a force book will look like. I wouldn't expect a reprint because, as stated with some of the comments below, the initial Mk. 3 force books were half content and half stats. In the new Grymkin book it is all lore and content. No stats and no need for it with those elements moving into a digital "living rulebook" format. In the future I would fully expect to see a new print of the force books that follows the Grymkin format, especially if we move into a Mk 3 Remix launch like we did with Prime Remix.
