Battle priests lost shield guard but now have two pwr 11 attacks. If you bring three of them with the precursors (3 free in theme) that's a lot of weaponmaster attacks on feat turn. When the unit is 15 models big it makes sense to have practised manoeuvres and the standard on them. They also hand out tough when B2B, which particularly makes sense when your unit is shieldwalling. Or the idea that in heavy metal you can now run a full unit colossal two lights and a free squire and only scratch 57 points at best. Seriously haley 1 can over tune the teapon master damage by giving extra attacks on feat turn, as well as up the armor with arcane sheild. Seige 1 and 2 would love them as a armor cracking force and Well hell we can place upkeeps on them now look into heavy metal and take one arcon (moro) as your faction merc solo Partisan solos are specifically called out in HM and so they don't take a merc slot.

I'm also having dumb, dumb ideas of taking a full squadron of Battle Priests in my Silver Line Stormguard unit to act as Tough-giving back-of-the-triangle troopers.

Precursors start to seem a much more interesting unit to play.
The change to HM to avoid big base solos is fair.
Battle priests... I dunno. I'm glad they lost Shield Guard, and for sure seem interesting with Precursors... But I'm not sure they have a place with other units without damage buffs and that don't have reasons to go around B2B... Silverline and Shield Knights are the only ones where MAYBE you could want them, but they are not much used units, and even there without damage buffs I'm not sure I would spend 2-4-6 points to give the unit tough.

Only thing left on him is Granted: Rise. He has Tough and an another melee weapon, and gives Tough to the troopers in the unit while B2B with him. And he has an ability to debuff undead and Infernal models near of him, although it debuffs your own Undead as well.
Just for Tough... you know, we have a contract with Rhupert Carvolo. He is far superior than a team of them and he is more cheap and reliable. The only exception for this is Precursor Knights, for they are also benefit from Shield Wall.
For now, the only eligible units to put them seems Precursor Knights and some Trencher units, nothing more.

I see. Seems pretty underwhelming outside of Precursors.
Trenchers also gain rise naturally in theme and you can't put them on Trenchers in Kingmakers or Resistance, since they are no longer Cygnar. Sad times.

Stryker 2 in Flame might tempt me back from Mercs, actually having some heavy infantry to make use of Decel, Thamar Advocates to heal Overload damage, Ragman gets the feat move, Morrowan Archon makes him def 18 against living with no KD (no more Ol Rowdy tax), plus he can take some Khador Heavies

It's gonna be easy stacking ragman+positive charge+throne buff for a +6 damage swing on feat attacks, even without the charge bonus it's still a world of hurt. Also, stryker 2 likes talons, super cheap and a good target for positive charge. If you want to go the full damage buff route, you can also take either henge prophet or LoLS+alexia3 for a +8 damage total. Bonkers in a faction starved for damage like cygnar. On top of that, you keep a good assassination/end game melee caster with solid spells, especially a wide range anti gun armor buff, the list needs it a lot.. I really think he can shine there.
