As the title suggests, I’ve been having a difficult time lately with Menoth. Many of the lists I’ve been facing, are very infantry heavy, with lots of self sacrifice shenanigans, martyrdom, recursion, etc. Many of the units have Spell Ward or ways to block spells, lots of shield guards, the book, as well as ways to clear upkeeps. Their units are pretty fast, get boosts to Def and Arm if you kill their buddies, have vengeance, boosts to STR, and likewise lots of magic weapons. All of the above comes together to make difficult matchups for me. There is not one particular “boogeyman list” that’s a problem either, the faction in general has been giving me fits. My best list I think is my Skarre1 Dark Host list, and I think even that one would struggle, especially when things I try to kill don’t die, or come back and it seems like with regard to the piece trade, that I am on the losing side of things. I’m wondering how you guys are handling them and if you have any tips and suggestions on how to face them.

I think its pretty good vs protectorate too because slaughter fleet has pretty good combined arms with its shooting and models like exemplars are pretty weak into shooting. Harbinger's feat is also explicitly fire damage meaning Skarre3 can have up to two units ignore the feat, and if harby ever martyrs too much there's a lot of shooting in that list, more than harbinger has shield guards... Skarre3 also doesn't rely on offensive spells which is a huge+ against menoth. i think the one i'm most afraid of is Judicator lists. the judicator might clear so many infantry that even steady tough can't save them if you own or can proxy the models give it a try, its my recommendation

challenger Thanks for the response. I had actually been looking at your new battle report thread, and I was trying to figure out how a list like yours would play into some of the troubles I’ve been having. You’re right about the fire protection from Skarre3, though with Harbringer casting Purification, I likely would only be able to have one unit fire immune. The Judicator would be a really bad day for this list I fear, as the blast damage from a “Battled” double Hand of Fated Judi is likely averaging like Pow 19 which is more than enough, even with Deceleration, to ruin my day. I think you’re right though, that the volume of attacks and the ranged threat of the list would be helpful. I’ve got lots of thinking to do.

Maybe it's just me but, how does something get "double hand of fate"? AFAIK a model can only benefit from the same spell once unless it specifically states that it stacks with itself (which hand of fate does not do).

Its a shorthand nickname, it isn't actually getting hand of fate twice, it's getting its Reliquary rule + the spell hand of fate which do the exact same thing but have different names. it's like if you had a spell that granted +2 STR and another, differently named spell that also does it.
