Well, Hark should probably just get all his ranged nonsense replaced with something useful. I guess the idea is that, if he's running a jack-heavy list and ends up facing infantry spam, then at least he can get a few more AOEs out there, thus giving him a bit more versatility? He'd probably be better off with something more focus efficient though, then he might actually be able to afford to cast it without sacrificing the normal stuff he wants to do. But people currently feel like he's good. So maybe he would then be OP? Good point.

He's pretty baller, yes. Broadsides is great in a few situations, but he can bring some serious melee too with his speed buffs.
You know, I should try him with two colossals again in the theme list. I wasn't feeling it before, but perhaps the addition of more focus will help.

My point is that he should make the ranged nonsense work. Not drop it for another goddam melee Jack Caster. He is very much defined by being a neat Ranged Caster. Something about overwhelming ranged firepower. But his weak spell list doesn't support that. I often enough don't care how powerful something is, but how well designed it is. If a Warcaster existed who in the fluff was a big cool upfront melee guy who slashed through targets, but one spell accidentally made him a behind the lines spellslinger and he sucked in melee its just not cool in my mind. Also Black Ivan doesn't just need a points discount but a serious redesign. In MKII he was DODGY. Now he SOAKS up hits. That's a nerf on top of being too expensive. But oh boy he sure can use his weak weapons in melee now.

I hear you.
Our selection of ranged jacks simply don't work with Harks current ranged abilities. I think he should be tested with his marshal ability changed to boosted ranged attack rolls and if that proved too strong then try +2 to ranged attack rolls.

I don't think attack rolls are so much the problem as much as broadsides it...Or maybe give him an extra spell or something for boosted ranged attack rolls.

Having boosted ranged attacks would fix Broadside and the Assault part of his feat as well as letting him run a larger ranged battle group.
Black Ivan should get boosted melee attacks for the bond (making crit brutal worth while) and come down 2 points.

I'm telling you, just up Broadsides by 1 and add his battlegroup can boost the attack and damage rolls of the attack. Or maybe keep it 3 and just allow them to add 1, drop lowest dice when making ranged attacks instead of making an extra.

Alternatively, make Khador ranged 'jacks better or cheaper so they aren't only good with Harkevich. I get that Harkevich is supposed to be good at running them, but I'd like more options than Karchev or die for running a bunch of melee 'jacks effectively.

Anything about it, specifically?

Anything about it, specifically? Nevermind I just understood what you meant. I fear that tuning up our ranged Capabilities would mean a drop in melee which I'm enjoying very much so.

I definitely prefer the melee things. But I feel like at least for me, most ranged 'jacks aren't earning their points back very often no matter who I'm running them with because they don't hit or don't hurt without boosting. Granted, I don't own Vlad 1. But Harkevich is already good, why change him? Making ranged 'jacks a little better might mean they find their way into more lists with fewer 'jacks, and hopefully Broadsides becomes more of a trade-off.

That would be cool, just PP has a "Quirky" way with things they find too powerful or "Complex". But Goddamit the CID "test" template is freaking Harkevitch, Demolisher, and Black Ivan. It's like PP is teasing me. GIVE ME MY FREAKING TANK CASTER YOU BASTARDS!
