PP also provides a Bloodstone paint. It is a reddish-brown which makes for an interesting desert-themed base excellent for Skorne and Sul-Menites.
Interestingly enough, I used it as the armor color for my space marines, along with Trollblood base turquoise for the shoulder pads and silver for the trim. I got a lot of compliments for it as they recognized a very Arizona-themed chapter (my home state and current residence).

I've actually got that color, so I'll give it a try for the base. Thanks for the suggestion.

This is some of how I've done it (caveat, I'm still a relative painting newb, and don't have a picture box):

I like the colour scheme. Thank you. I was going for a SWtOR Sith theme with them, but found that Magnus1 was just too dark for it. My other two painted jacks are using Traitor Green and Bloodstone to more reflect the standard Merc Theme, and I have almost finished repainting Mangus1 to suit.

Sand seems like a good option here. I'll see if I can get some materials for it. I have a lot of money invested into various dirt, ice, water, and snow experiments but nothing whatsoever for sand yet. I use a mix of course and fine ballast that i got at the model railway store. Pretty sure I'm still using the stuff I bought ten years ago. That's been enough to do a Circle, Merc, and Troll army so far....
