I just priced it up and yeah you're right it is! So either PP has gotten the price wrong on the box and sent that wrong price out to all their retailers or there's a price rise coming for those models (or some of them - which I'd assume to be the older ones in the box).
Price on PP website : Prices from Firestorm Games
64.99 warmongers 44.06
16.99 warchief 11.66
7.99 forsaken 5.36
49.99 Rotwings 31.46
19.99 gorag 15.98
Total from PP individual : 159.95
Boxed set from PP 149.99
Total from Firestorm £108.52 Boxed Set from Firetorm £116.78
So that's over £8 more to buy the boxed set as opposed to getting all the models on their own; however if bought through PP site there is a saving. Soooo that leaves me confused as to how that has come around assuming each store applies the same level of discount to the boxed set as it does to the individual items.

Yeah, this boxed set doesn't make a lot of sense. Even if we write off the British prices as some kind of currency exchange weirdness, this is not an impressive boxed set discount.
I had been thinking about getting this box, assuming it was a better discount than it was, but now that I've looked at the math it's pretty "meh". I'll probably just get the parts individually over time.

Plus, whats the forsaken doing there. seems a lil out of place. should be Gorag or Ammok imo.

They could easily put a second character in as they've already got one so the box is already a one-purchase per customer affair anyway. Forsaken are never bad, but as there's a limit of 2 it seems like an odd choice. A Shepherd might have been better since at least here's a limit of 3 so less chance of players owning all 3 compared to easily picking up a pair of forsaken.
The Forsaken is clearly there to bolster the list for when you add warbeasts into the mix, which is to be expected.

The box sets are meant to be added directly to the battle box to make an Xpoint list. So the forsaken is likely in there just to fill a a point deficit or to act as a free model for the Primal terrors benefit.
Also, raise your hand if you are surprised that PP isn't selling things at a "good" discount...

Compared to the grymkin box it's very surprising. That was a very good deal, even though I wasn't interested in the caster and the piggybacks.

Grymkin box is more like battle-box or two player starter that all have good value. All theme boxes (trenchers, northkins,...) have cost about same as individual models. But from my experience pre-order prize has been too high for some releases. For example Trollkin sorcerer dropped couple of euros after pre-order.

PP's boxed sets are pretty awful in general. They include too many specific models that the player may-or-may-not want, and don't cut anywhere close to a deal. It's just not very intelligently-designed.
Solos are cheap. Most people can pick up a solo on a whim and not fuss too much about it. Solos should almost NEVER be in a boxed set because the opportunity cost of getting one is so low. If this boxed set had just been the warmongers+rotwings (both things that legion players might not own since warmongers sucked since mk1 and rotwings are new), THAT would have made sense for both new and old players. Instead, they make this dumb box set that includes a model that nearly every legion player owns 2 of ASAP, another model that most legion players probably own from Mk2, and then 2 units that are just overpriced by a huge margin if they are the only thing you want out of the box.
