So last night I went out looking ofr a game at the local LGS. I ran into one of the best players in our meta playing Skorne, with a bunch of Gatormen, Drocodile, Agonizer and a few other things, caster was Beast Master Xekaar. I dropped Kraye into it. War Room Army Cygnar - Kraye’s Giddy Up. Theme: Heavy Metal 3 / 3 Free Cards 72 / 75 Army Captain Jeremiah Kraye - WJ: +28 - Squire - PC: 0 - Centurion - PC: 17 (Battlegroup Points Used: 17) - Stormclad - PC: 18 (Battlegroup Points Used: 11) - Hammersmith - PC: 12 - Charger - PC: 9 - Ironclad - PC: 12 - Sentinel - PC: 8 Journeyman Warcaster - PC: 0 - Defender - PC: 16 Captain Arlan Strangewayes - PC: 0 Lady Aiyana & Master Holt - Lady Aiyana & Master Holt: 8 THEME: Heavy Metal I was still missing my second Hammersmith, so I subbed int a few other jacks. My list performed ok, my 2nd with the new improved Kraye. I lost the roll, went second, moved my jacks up by running them, and started contesting the left rectangle zone, and my flag. I failed to pay attention to my opponents zones, and the face he had a solo on his flag. I have never been good at scenario, and I really need to get better at it. I contested my flag, but never held it. I contested the center cirlce, but never held it. I contested the far rectangle, but never held it. I really let my list down. I had the potential to wipe Gators off the board, and I didn't. I also had never used Hammersmith before, and I didn't do a beat back/follow up into the other rectangle, and I lost this zone when my Hammer smith was ganged up on by Gators, and killed. The Dracodile killed my two other jacks in the cirlce zone, and that was game, top of three. Still getting the hang of Kraye, my opponent was gracious enough to help me with Impacts, which are awesome. Pathfinder on all jacks in the B'Group is awesome. Charger is actually not a bad little jack. Defender is pretty sweet, and I forgot to give him magic weapon with Arlan. I made a TON of mistakes, but for just playing two games with him, contesting zones, I felt I did ok. My opponent told me, if he hadn't killed my two Jacks with the DRacodile, he more than likely would have been assassinated since he had went all in on the play. He rolled SICK damage on my jacks, and that's just the way it goes.

I love Kraye, glad you picked him up! I'm running him with two Centurions and two Stormclads, and some chargers for feat delivery (never forget that Kraye himself has two shots with long range and reposition to trigger the feat, too). Unlike some other casters who have been "solved", I rarely see two lists that are exactly the same with him - so many of our models benefit from his toolkit that it's hard to pinpoint which combo is the best, and that's what I really love in a caster. I've got another list planned in Gravediggers with 5 Ironclads and Trencher Commandos with Countermeasures, but I'm worried they'll be in the way of my jacks more often than not, but I'll put it on the table at least once.

I've always had a soft spot for this caster. I tried to make him work in MKII, but man, I lost every time. It's nice he's a good caster now. I have a SoT list with Siege that I'm dying to try out as well.

With the Manowar and Ogrun CID, along with various viable Gatorman Posse builds, I'm thinking Siege will be a mainstay in the meta again soon - his feat can really mess up multiwound models.

Remember the Trample and Repo 5 trick to get 12/13" up the Board turn 1

An electroleap with the firefly around kills most cav or heavy infantry on sieges feat. His feat is crazy good into heavy infantry.

One more thing I noticed about your list: you're packing Ayana & Holt without the Trencher attachment, keep in mind that their Kiss of Lylyth only affects friendly faction models, so in order to get use out of their damage buff, you'd need to invest 4 more points.
I played Kraye yesterday as well, twice in fact!
My list: Kraye -Squire - 2x Centurion - 2x Stormclad - Ironclad - Minuteman Strangewayes Junior - Charger min Mechanics
First game was against Sevvy1 with a couple of very tough jacks. I sent in my Ironclad to knock down one and ding it up a little, Repo'd back and let the Stormclad do the rest. That's the beauty of Kraye in my opinion: he has trouble piecetrading in the regular sense since his jacks usually can't take out an enemy jack alone, but with Repo 5 you can often scalpel out a piece and get everyone who was involved back to safety. I ended the game with having removed all but one of his jacks, but then Eye of Truth shot a wounded Kraye in a last-ditch effort since I forgot he had a gun.
Second game was against Jaga Jaga with double Croaks and a Dracodile. Top of two I feated and cast Horsepower, and got three heavies into the Dracodile, taking it off the table. He couldn't quite position so that the Dracodile would actually do anything in the game, while still keeping it safe, although having it in chargerange of three jacks was a (understandable) mistake on his part - next time I'm sure I'd only get two in, which wouldn't be enough to kill a gargantuan. I put Countermeasures on a minuteman and managed to keep an entire unit of Croaks busy for a round, but Signs & Portents plus Gang was enough for them to take him down in melee. I started a 2-point scenario lead early on, and he had no heavy hitters left to deal with my jacks. Tried a very unlikely assassination on Kraye, failed it and conceded.
My list has few guns to apply the feat, but so far Kraye and the Charger where enough, you usually don't get to apply it on more than 2 or three models anyways. I often feat just to get a single heavy if I can keep my battlegroup unscathed with Reposition afterward, since extreme threat ranges don't matter much after things are engaged, and a single heavy is often enough to swing the game in my favor.
Quick question about admonition: can your jacks benefit from pathfinder during the admonition move, or only during their activation?

Yes, they can still utilize pathfinder during admo

Thanks for all the great input, and tips. I really appreciate it. I'm on the fence about playing in a tourney this weekend, since I've only played a few games since coming back.

I would just go for it, one of the best ways to get better imho is to expose yourself to competitive play. Yeah you will probably take a beating, but you can also learn a lot. Remember to ask your opponent what you could have done differently after the game, and get their insight.

I played my first tournament when I was still very new to the game - had like 5 games under my belt? Luckily it was a small tournament and everyone was friendly so I enjoyed it a lot even though I lost most of my games.

I played my first tournament when I was still very new to the game - had like 5 games under my belt? Luckily it was a small tournament and everyone was friendly so I enjoyed it a lot even though I lost most of my games. I went for it, there were twenty people there, 5 Cygnar players. It was pretty glorious tournament. My first game was against Haley2, and it was just no fun. I lost on scenario, and I had pretty much destroyed her entire army, save the Pesky Stormwall. I will say, if I could have made it one more turn, no BS, she would have died miserbaley to Kraye's gun. Second game was against Skorne, super heavy ARM, so I dropped Kraye into it again, and my Jacks were crushing beasts left and right. Alas, I lost on time....NOOOOO. I actually believe my opponent got me monologueing, and explaining things, and I forgot to stop my time when we called the judge over. We were both pretty new players. If I played him four more time, I beat him three of them. I had to leave after my second game, due to family obligations, and the fact the tourney got started late, so 0-2 on the day. On the drive home, I replayed the games in my head, thinking about what I could have done better. I think Cygnar on Cygnar is just as much fun as going to the dentist for some drilling minus the novocaine.
