I was just talking about Victor a bit in another thread but thought this deserved its own since that thread was about Harkevich. Victor is one of the very few things that I presently don't own for Khador (along with the Rager, Mad Dog and Shocktrooper UA). I'm conflicted when I look at Victor. I still like the thought of hurling five inch fiery AOEs across the table. However, there aren't as many troops in MKIII as there were in MKII. I think that theme lists will bring troops back to an extent but still not to MKII levels. Effective RAT 0 is rather unfortunate. The WG Artillery Kapitan will bring it up to RAT 2 (yeah?) but more importantly let you reroll direction and/or distance. When I look at Victor though I still tend to think it isn't worth shelling out the cash for. I own two Conquests already and they are assembled and painted. I bought them before the new kits came out otherwise I could have just went the magnet route.
So anyway, what is your experience with Victor in MKIII? Worth the purchase or not?

My advice is to make your own guns to put on your existing Conquests. Get like some WW2 Artillery model or something if you need to find a good looking main gun. The secondary guns are just gatling guns on a post.
I just can't find a good reason to run Victor in Mk3.
(I recently modified my Conquest to have magnetised weapons, but don't actually have any plans to run a Victor)

I have recently found love for our colossals and on another thread, the Strakhov and conquest one, I heard why people like Conquest more than Victor. Several posters seemed to like Connie more than Vickie, but I am still not convinced. Especially in the way that I have been using Victor. I think you are right about seeing more infantry with the themes coming out, and that will make his 20" gun more valuable. Likewise I think arcing fire for Victor is very important, especially against lists like Menoth where they can shut down your non Magic shooting. In my dream battles, early on I am able to drift my AOE over the LOS blocking jacks onto my opponent's support pieces, boosting Blast damage rolls as I can, but more importantly, setting a bunch of junk on fire and killing it next turn, or even setting the Warcaster on fire and being just a constant pressure/nuisance to it. I think the trick with both colossals is to not get stuck shooting so much, not to hold back to aim, etc. unless you really need to hit. The crit devastation effect of connie's gun is great, but fishing for a crit seems harder to me than trying to float a big AOE on to something.

Victor is a great addition to any Khador army but not 100% necessary. Unless you want to build around the main gun you take Victor for the same reasons as Conquest Threat extension and wrecking things in Melee. I would definitely get it eventually, and since you already have most models I have a feeling you will, just wait until you can get a really good deal on one or an old Conquest that you can mod (unless you want to mod one of your already painted ones).
If I were you I'd get the Shocktrooper UA first.

My experience with him has been kind of bad. To be fair, I haven't played him much, but missing the siege mortar and scattering off to no place is brutal. Way too many points of your army doing absolutely nothing, when you brick. Also you never hit basically anything which can make it even less useful. His small guns are vastly worse then Conquests because of the shorter range, and no HE.
On the other hand he is a model that I think is hugely helped by having the Winterguard Artillerist, while starting to get into the nose bleed level of points, being able to reroll the scatter and crawl up to rat 2 means occasionally you stick the gun, or and very frequently scatter on target meaning you can really get value from the gun.

To follow up from my earlier post, I have been using him in my Sorscha1 list. Knocking things down and then blasting away at them, or making targets stationary and then blowing them up has been a pretty good combo. I think with any of that potential tech, that Victor can get a lot done. Again, I think the important first move is to run with him up the board to make him relevant for the rest of the game. Of course if a good juicy target is made available you may have different ideas.

So, I'd say proxy him a few times and see how you like him. The best casters for him are probably Irusk 2, Strakho1 and Sorscha 1. The gun is a Morser Karl Gerat which I picked up from Hobby Boss at Amazon. I think you could pry off your existing gun and magnitize both. A potential money saver...

Never felt the need to build one. I'll prolly get one eventually but it's not high on my list.

The secondary guns need something else to go with boosted attack roles vs flight to make him worthwhile. Otherwise you play him only for the big gun

Yeah those secondary guns seem really inferior to Conquests. Even though troop spam isn't as big of a thing as it used to be there are still troops and it is nice to have the extra board control.
