Iron Flesh, EBDT animus and Janissas wall. Against melee attacks he was effectively DEF 14+3+2(+2 if Water) = 19-21 and ARM 17+2+2+2 = 23. Now he is a paltry 16/21 Still got that no knock down! I see your point. Generally I had people kill Janissa, who I was pretty aggressive with, first, leaving the EBDT. Might go a ways towards explaining THAT change. Actually, Stumbling drunk always made him immune to knockdown

Still got that no knock down! I see your point. Generally I had people kill Janissa, who I was pretty aggressive with, first, leaving the EBDT. Might go a ways towards explaining THAT change. Actually, Stumbling drunk always made him immune to knockdown Oh sure, I was just pointing out that despite losing a ton of stuff he didn't lose THAT! Personally I played him a few times in MKII, but really he has never excited me much. Generally even without all the cool defensive tech most of the locals tended to ignore him, and kill everybody around him, leaving him a bit like Conan: the last survivor on a blood soaked battle field. He didn't, and still doesn't do a great deal for most of his forces. His feat adds +2" SPD, and he has one defensive buff. Wind Wall is cute for personal defense, but too short for much else. What he does seem to have going for him is a clever gag rule "Stumbing Drunk" which can be a bit annoying for both sides. It's biggest benefit, walking away, was often countered by the models closely packed around him to get all the defensive tech, or by op force when they put a bunch of models around him, and then killed him. Anyway, I know I'm going against the tide here, and that he is (or was) a popular warlock, and "Stumbling Drunk" is a fun rule, but I've always felt like he was popular because he had a drinking theme, and was otherwise a bit underwhelming. Probably a personal failing I know. Probably also didn't help that the previous Troll fans in the local meta had played him pretty exclusively for a long time, and everybody knew his (limited) shtich.

2. The change to 'No power attacks to friendlies' eliminated a sure-fire damage boost aspect of his Feat (eg. Bull Rushing LRs into one or more of their own). Unless an opponent happens to politely situate their models ideally for power attacks. His Feat is currently a 10" (now 12" w/ Runebearer) auto-hitting Hunter's Mark-plus, a situational movement buff. Beasts only gain 'Forcing-Free' Power Attacks, NOT charges. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Borka 1 can have a Runebearer as we already have Kenny the Keg Carrier as his Attachment. Personally I enjoyed Borka in Mk 1 ( I missed all of Mk 2 and Trollock's description makes me feel bad I did cause that sounds awesome), and I've played only him so far in Mk. 3 (Just getting into it in the last 2 months), I've done fairly well for a newbie player with him, but I'm looking forward to branching out into other lists and casters. I think he's a good starting Caster for both Fluff and training on the interactions that are needed for Trolls to succeed.

Borka can indeed not have a runebearer Oops, correct! And yet another incidence of how Borka1 stayed static while MK3 changed the game around him...
MK3 Borka1 could have easily been a unit.
