Greetings, all. After a long break I have decided to return to this game. I have decided to give Asphyxious 3 a try. I would appreciate some guidance on where to find good guides on him, although advice here would also be appreciated. Right now I am just playing 25 point games. Thank you in advance.

you can run pretty much anything with him. you can run jack heavy due to mobility. you can run a couple of units and help spread out that -2 to hit while giving them concealment.
so, probably look at black industries, the jack theme, or dark host, the bane theme. dark host gives all banes prowl, so while they have concealment they gain stealth. that also bumps up their defense to 14 in combat, which is nice.
black industries gives jacks carapace to help negate their arms getting shot off then unyielding helps their armor in melee. then like i said, mobility helps them get there.
he also has a debuff to help kill a skew unit or jack.
easily my favorite caster

Do I need to use a theme? Cankerwurm seems like a good model, especially with its caster.

Nope! you can play whatever list youd like!
Just keep in mind thats where PP is going with the game. so people that do use themes will have more models on the table from the free points they get.

Do I need to use a theme? Cankerwurm seems like a good model, especially with its caster. Due to how the Warjack bond rules work, Cankerworm can be included in any theme as long as you’re playing one of the versions of Asphyxious. While you don’t need a theme, you tend to be at a disadvantage when playing out of theme lists against theme lists. You are correct though, Cankerworm is incredible with Asphyxious.
