So over the last week I did a lot of theorymachine and built 3 lists that I wanted to test out (and today I did exactly that). I mentioned before in my Tanith thread that I wanted to test out Secret Masters so I have to apologize for not getting to it (simply put I thought being able to bring Wyrds, BE's and a pureblood would prove to be a great combination but the issue that arose in my theorymachine was that I simply couldn't get enough points to build a list around it so I ended the testing before I began). Instead I tried out 3 other lists that I had been working on since the last Circle CID session and put them on the table.
Game 1 (Standoff)
I threw down into an Amon list in Creators Might that my buddy was testing. He had (to the best of my knowledge)
Amon
-Devout
-Templar
-Templar
-Crusader
-Dervish
-Judicator
Vassal
Vassal
Mekanik
Mekanik
Wrack
Wrack
Covenant
Min Choir
Min Choir
I then put down a pBaldur list in CotW (aimed at being my armour cracker)
pBaldur
-Wilder
-Megalith
-Pureblood
-Stalker
-Stalker
-Feral
-Gorax
Wayfarer
Wayfarer
Stoneshaper
Shifting Stones
Shifting Stones
My opponent won the roll to go first and ran up the table. I did pretty much the same thing though I stayed out of his threat ranges. The only thing I really measured out was ensuring I had a stalker able to charge my opponents objective next turn.
During my opponents next turn he played very cagey and held back knowing I had the larger threat ranges. Enliven went up on a couple of Jacks and he hung back with most things except the Covenant who sang no spells catching my heavies...no animi until it's gone. My opponents big mistake here was that Judicator was not contesting any of the central zones making it easy to score 1 side as well as my own zone. My turn 2 sees Megalith get sacrificed for the greater good as he goes charging off into the Covenant. After 5 swings it's no longer there and it's now time to send in a Primaled, Stone Skinned Stalker into my opponents objective (Hunters Marked). He takes it out in a single swing and uses his second initial on a templar with Enliven (which I had forgotten about) who then moves out of melee. I then buy more attacks into the nearby Dervish wrecking him easily. 1 unit of shifting stones moves to control a zone and Baldur feats to ensure I'm only losing Megalith and the Stalker. I score 3
Due to the feat my opponent is unable to do much except take the models I gave him so Judicator goes into the Stalker (only just killing him with his final swing with atrocious damage rolls). The Templar crushes Megalith. His other heavies trundle forward very slowly. Out of desperation 3 choir run into a zone spread out trying to stop the inevitable scenario victory that's coming. Score is now 4-1 as my opponent was unable to contest my own zone.
I contemplate removing the Judicator and the Templar but decide against it and just go for scenario. I run a blackclad to contest opponents zone. Wilder runs to ensure I have no issues focring. Pureblood sprays at 2 choir boosting to hit both but only hitting 1. A stalker charges a second and ends him. The 3rd one (that I missed earlier) is out of range to charge even when Warping SPD with my Feral so I need a Hunters Mark to get there. I nail the hit roll and we call it there.
Game 2 (Standoff again) I wanted a re-match vs his list but I threw down something different.
Una2 (Devourer's Host)
-Scarsfell
-Scarsfell
-Scarsfell
-Scarsfell
-Gorax
Ravager Shaman
White Mane
Night Witch
Eilish
Bloodweavers
Max Ravagers with CA
Min Ravagers with CA
Max Bloodtrackers
My opponent won the roll to go first again so turn 1 was simply running on both sides. Mirage is on the Max ravagers and HoF on the Trackers.
However, on turn 2 my opponent is now in a predicament as his Judicator can't advance into the zone without getting charged by all the birds. He decides he has to go for it and throws out some AOES doing 3 damage to a single bird. Everything else just kind of dances around.
My next turn I primal up 2 Griffons and send them into the Judicator. It goes down after a third and a Ravager goes in. I get some shots into his Preyed Dervish from trackers but roll atrociously badly leaving it very healthy. They do remove the Covenant though. A single Bloodweaver follows up charging with a buddy running for gang and knock out movement and an arm.
My opponent has been very careful to so far deny vengeance moves on my Ravagers and he still doesn't take any bait. Instead he goes for the Griffons removing 3 and starts working on Trackers. Dervish gets repaired a little and kills the 2 Weavers. Not much else goes down at this point.
My next turn I go all in. I send in the full min unit of Ravagers with HoF to the Crusader but leave him very healthy. I decide it has to go so send in my last bird with Primal and it finally goes down. I tickle the Dervish some more but he's still happy. My opponents 2 remaining Templar are gonna be a big problem.
Seeing that I'm running out of options to deal with his Arm 21 Jacks (and 1 at 23) my opponent finally commits in full. I lose my objective maybe 3 more Trackers and about 5 Ravagers in total. But to get this done Amon has committed quite far forward. My turn rolls around and while I'm not out of the fight yet I am rapidly running out of ways to handle the seriously heavy armour he is throwing at me. I decide to go for an assassination. Ravagers Vengeance (getting the CA in charge range of Amon). They get HoF, Una2 pushes a Templar away that was threatening freestrikes. White Mane runs to grant Vet Leader. A fully corpse loaded Chieftain ends the game.
There is 1 more game to come (eKrueger vs Ossrum) but I'll write that up tomorrow as it's pretty late on this side of the world.
