It depends on if you have strength buffs up. Those don't apply to the mount. Given that you can get up to+4 strength (being hurt and cold Stone) the higher ps on trauma can overwhelm the weapon master on average. and if you take a pyre along you can get an extra +2 damage on top of the +4 strength. put the chiller animus from the basher on him and you also have a +2 hit buff on anything you want to get close to add a fellcaller for another +2 hit and you are good to go and live the dream: 1 pow 16 mount impact attack (if the +2 dmg from pyre works on that) at mat 12 if you hit, then your target is knocked down and 6 p&s 21 attacks on a knocked down target should finish any caster. Just a correction to make here: You wouldn't be able to have both chiller and flaming fists up, so it's the +2 to attack OR the +2 damage. I'd usually go with Flaming Fists. Flaming Fists does count towards the mount though, since it's a melee attack. So depending on the buffs on Borka, buying mount attacks vs. using Trauma is situational. The northkin elder +2 STR buff would probably push me to using Trauma more frequently though. POW 21 w/ FF, Defiant Rage, Stone Aura vs a pow 16 Weapon Master, Trauma should put out more reliable damage. Had a chance to play with Borka2 a few times tonight in PoD. I feel like my first assumption was correct, though he plays a beast brick well, I think he really shines the most in a mixed arms list. With the beast brick, he can be bogged down easily by enemy infantry. Though a counter charging Mulg in PoD is amazing, it's rough having to give up the Fell Caller for that sweet MAT 10. Having a fell caller and infantry to jam/contest the board with really makes me think he's best in SotN. From what I gathered tonight, I think Lanyssa, a Fell Caller, and a Pyre are absolutely mandatory. Everything else can be substituted freely to compliment your 2nd list. Question about an interaction that came up tonight: Borka 2 charged Tanith, and missed his impact attack. After resolving the movement phase, Tanith Admonitioned out of range. Does that now count as a failed charge? Gut says no, because he "completed" the charge.

Also, you can counter charge if she admonitions away

After I completed my 5 man tour de grim1 I will start running Borka2 in CID again.
Borka2 RB (free) Mulg Rok Mauler Axer Basher Winter Troll
Krielstone max Northkin UA
Lanyssa Shaman (Free) Whelps (Free)
Lynus & Edrea
My thinking about this list: Its melee oriented and with the feat of borka they should be able to get into melee without suffering too much damage
Rok, Winter Troll, Lanyssa and the Shaman may have pow 14-16 sprays due to the UA
Lynus Can give any of the beasts his applied Knowledge (yes this is the CID part) and the beast can scalpel out cortexes or other relevant stuff Edrea has true sight and can get to stealty incorporeal stuff that camps on flags
The stone unit can get ugly by themselves due to the +2 str option of the ua and can get some work done.
Mulg .. well is mulg, but also an enabler for borka's spray. Borka can spray up to 2 times through mulg if required at pow 14 with stone ua
Borka's spell will give a +2 def bonus to the beasts and provide some little extra protection from ranged attacks.
With the Axer and Lanyssa the potential threat range of the heavies is 13 inches. Which will keep most opponents honest with the placement of their casters.
The basher for the def bonus on borka of just in the neigbourhood of others
Winter troll.. can spray my other beasts without consideration and get them unengaged and his animus can help borka or others if nearby.
Rok is there so I can smash stuff without having to add an animi. But It can give other +2 mat and Str if required for removing key pieces or a caster.

That looks good. I feel like double whelps is a thing you may have to consider, and I can't post about him without mentioning the hilarity of the swamp troll Animus with counter-charge, but I like your reasoning for everything you brought.

Well the swamp is on my mind if the winter troll performs badly. But i feel that in my meta my opponents all can hit my beasts if the are def 14 But I agree that the interaction with his animus is fun, you go up to def 14 and if the first attack damages you, drop a whelp and be def 15 I think that will suck

The swamp+whelp thing ruins the day for a gargantuan, and getting Borka to def 16 is huge. This is all ignoring the tongue on the swamp troll, which can really ruin your opponents day. I've made several assassinations by licking lane blockers out of the way. I think the winter troll thing is very cool, though, and hope to try it sometime.

If lightening fists is up could the storm troll take out more than one attacking warrior model? (Assuming rolls work out properly)
I’m imagining a few near a heavy protecting them from weapon master charges. A knot in the list could help with crits on jacks too. Just curious if there’s any synergy worth testing there.

I have not had time to play new Borka yet, but I think PoD in not for current meta. Army definitely needs cheap screen to protect from hard-hitting infantry (or really cheap lights, like dervishes). Also free upkeep helps Borka so much, that SoTN is my go. Beasts I like to have: - RÖK, because stumbling drunk heavy is pain for enemy - Brawler, because retaliation strike is really good for caster that have high pow, good mat and even access to KD. - Pyre, because Borka really want to go to melee and hit hard and before defiant rage is on, Borka is only pow 17 with cols-stone. - EDBT, because KD is Borkas weak spot and pathfinder is nice to have with counter charge. Mauler would also be good, but just can't fit to list (and I already have primal) That battlegroup leave me 45p to spent on infantry, so I can fit 2 free solos (Runebearer and most likely fellcaller (valka would be really cool to fit, but most likely fellcaller is better).
(Borka 2) Borka, Vengeance of the Rimeshaws [+27] - Dire Troll Brawler [16] - Earthborn Dire Troll [14] - Pyre Troll [8] - Rok [19] - Trollkin Runebearer [0(5)]
Option 1 Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Swamp Gobber Chef [1] Kriel Warriors (max) [11] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Northkin Elder [3] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Northkin Fire Eaters [7]
Fire-eater mode. because I already have pyre troll, why not to take fire-eaters as well? Kriel warriors for cheap screen.
Option 2 Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Northkin Shaman [4] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Northkin Elder [3] Northkin Bear Handle & Battle Bears [10] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Northkin Raiders (max) [15]
Raiders for getting better use of snowshroud.
Option 3 Troll Whelps [4] Fell Caller Hero [0(5)] Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (min) [6] - Northkin Elder [3] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Northkin Fire Eaters [7] Hearthgut Hooch Hauler [18]
All the fire and booze.

You do not think you need access to any magical attacks at all? Borka can kill some things himself (like a wraith engine that comes to contest his zone) but incorporeal units/solos could be a pain...

Note that Flaming Fists adds to the mount's damage, Lightning Fists grants e-leaps to his impact attacks, his feat does not specify FF so Lanyssa benefits fully, and battle engines can gain stealth. Any other odds and ends that are not immediately clear?

I'm not sure yet, but I think Borka2 is not cryx drop. Too much banes. But not sure is the list armor crack enough not to be cryx drop.

Ok so looking at Borka2 I feel he needs the Hooch Hauler.
Veteran leader on all of your battle group seems really good. Like the best reason to take Borka2 good. Then you're in Storm of the North theme though so your list is more balanced and you aren't getting many free points from his Battle Charged spell.
Not sure what the answer is, but my immediate thought is that he doesn't have an obviously good list right now.

Played my first 2 games with bearka and it feels so much better. Its insane... Used this list: Trollblood - Bärli is back! Theme: Storm of the North Borka, Vengeance of the Rimeshaws - Trollkin Runebearer - PC: 0 - Rök - PC: 19 - Troll Axer - PC: 10 - Earthborn Dire Troll - PC: 14 - Pyre Troll - PC: 8 Troll Whelps Valka Curseborn, Chieftain of the North Gremlin Swarm Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes - Leader & 3 Grunts: - Northkin Elder Northkin Fire Eaters Northkin Fire Eaters Trollkin Champions - Skaldi Bonehammer Had no plan behind it but just having some fun. And hell it was! Best changes: - +2 ctrl (Runebearer) - Free upkeep - Free animus - Stone autofill - Autokd - +1 spd aura - Tankmode Played against wurmwood and just ran into his stupid forest and feated. Its just insane vs circle...he concedes since the bear can walk to the tree with pow 21... Second game vs abby2. Countercharged an assaulting carni and not only kd him... But killed him with Borka and 1 axer. After that he tanked the rest of her Army under her feat... Gettin Stationary makes shredders sad...he concedes since the bear is in chargerange of her...with pow 21. The possibility to be immune to kd, pulls, etc and camping 5 is just hilarious. The +1 spd on Champions is gold...even though i forgot it 9/10 times Definately way better now!
