Traded Dominate Undead for Death Ride, and Zombify now let's your model move 3" and make a melee attack after being disabled. Thoughts?

I think this is an upgrade. Ive only played her with Maelok and with the changes to him she got better.

Death Ride is the 1" advance by Undead models within CMD, right?
Sounds good, especially with Maelok. An out-of-activation move is always nice.
Zombify...does that mean it no longer makes the unit Undead, but instead grants a Bone Shaker light on disabled? Definitely cool, though I don't get how it would work unless it made the unit Undead as well.

Death ride isn't ooa movement, its an extra inch on their next advance. Still really nice, and almost always better than dominate.

It makes the MODEL undead. It's a downgrade. Probably removing the 'unit becomes undead' to prevent the new Maelok being broken.

Its mostly because if zombify was unit wide entire gator units could un-kill themselves with snacking + last word

Maelok doesn't have to cast the Death Pact on Feat, since the warriors gain Incorporeal regardless of Undead status. Though it does provide effective +4 ARM to warriors, Feat stacked with Death Pact.
Death Ride is ok for my ALREADY Undead Cryxians. With Witch Doctor, I'm pretty sure a 1" movement buff to occasionally Undead guys is a pretty bad use of my points, unless free in Theme. Zombify would work if we had 1-wound Weaponmasters to present a "damned if you do/damned if you don't" quandary to the opponent when positioning a cheap pt cost model. Pending?

I keep thinking with Midas after he recovers his Warbeasts, the 1 " could assist themmlate game/post feat.
Better, the Boneswarm the Blind Walker can gain the 1" very often.
There is some good potential synergy with the revised Witch Doctor.

death ride makes shamblers and boneswarms faster. Other than that it seems like a downgrade.

Death Ride is way more useful than Dominate Undead (which was useful in what, the mirror, sometimes Cryx, and maybe Skorne?) and the effect of Zombify is really cool, but these guys are tailor made for Maelok usage it seems.

I think I'll probably take one in my Maelok lists, but that's about it.

Is there a caster that could possibly work with max shamblers and husks, just clogging the field? The new Jaja-Jaja maybe?

Jaga probably works well. The bokurs won't be quite as good at killing heavies as with Rask or Calaban though. Rask can sac pawn to the grunts and always brings a mist speaker. Some croaks/ambushers etc to feed them are probably still ideal
