For the base units, an extra 2 points gets Precision Strike and Practiced Maneuvers. Then the CAs give Iron Zeal and Side Step for Black Dragons; or Defensive Formation and Relentless Charge for standard IFP. What's the community consensus on these two units? I see way more Black Dragons than standard IFP, but Relentless Charge and the minifeat seem pretty good on standard IFP. Is the upgrade worth the two extra points?

Practiced Manuevers is worth the points alone. It helps tremendously with positioning with charges. For example: I have the guy that's at the very back of the unit charge first so he can get into range, then I follow up with the guys that are a little closer, and so on. The Side Step also gives you the option to open up lanes to draw LOS to anything behind the Dragons, or to clean up positioning. Precision Strike is incredible when you have a damage buff, to knock out shields, movement on high DEF jacks, or spirits on beasts.
Iron Zeal is a great thing to stack with Iron Flesh or (now) Inviolable Resolve. It makes the guys ARM 19 on the charge, which is quite nice. If you stack all the ARM on them... then they're 23 on Iron Zeal turn. Very hardy for single wound models and they can absolutely get there.

Relentless Charge is the dealmaker for me.

Why not both?
Just thinking, its been months since I last saw a IFP vs BD thread.
It depends, are you running a caster or a list with access to pathfinder? I've lost games because I brought Black Dragons instead of IFP and get hamstrung over a wall.
Side step and Practiced Manuoveres are very good. But so is Repo 5 and relentless change.
It's all Apples and Oranges really.

So if you take the IFK, then regular IFP get precision strike. It's 2 more points, but the IFK has some value on its own. Side Step is pretty useless on BD except under Butcher2 really.
If we are talking about the theme, you will probably include Markov. So they will have Tactician which trumps Practiced Manoeuvres. Which means the difference is Iron Zeal vs Relentless Charge + Reposition + Shield Wall.
In theme I think you pretty much take IFP every time over BD. Out side theme it's not as cut and dry and comes down to what caster you are using and why you are taking Iron Fangs in the list.
