He refuses to even incorporate the relevant data on his cards? Not even with a note on a sticky or whatever? Seven point Mad Dogs, etc? Please tell him to stop playing precious princess and get with the program. Did he ignore errata before as well? It’s tricky. He enjoys playing the game but is not engage with the game outside of that, listen to any updates etc. In terms of Errata he relied on us in Mk2 to tell him if anything had changed. With Mk3 so much has been changed that I can’t keep up with it. He bought his physical card deck at the start of the edition and as far as he is concerned that's all he needs to do. He has no interest in buying WarRoom and “paying for the cards again”. It’s not done out of any sense of being special or awkward. At 30+ years of age all of us in our gaming group have to prioritise our time and efforts. He just doesn't pay any attention to the game apart from when he is physically playing it. It’s sad but I am going to have to tell him that he needs to do something to update otherwise I won’t/can’t play him. Which makes me feel like a bit of a twat. But the items you have pointed out like 7 pt Mad Dogs etc had a massive effect on the game. I guess I am just not looking forward to the conversation. If he can't understand why you want him to play the current edition with you I reckon that is a bigger issue than a potential painful conversation. The cards are available for free online; if you want to you could get a set of Khador made for him and provide them to him since he can't be bothered that might work. It sucks that it kind of places the burden on you but, having that in your back pocket when you have that conversation might be nice since you won't be blocking him from playing you that night. Side note I will totally be that guy. Warroom for a single deck of cars is ~$10; you can also get them made at most local print stores if you have one for roughly that price. Being unwilling to spend $10 to continue a group activity with your buddies is crappy. There is the assumption there that the individual can afford to spend $10 which is a different matter.

I mean, printing out the errata is not a big deal and the cards affected by them can be downloaded for free as well. I have no problems with players who don't want to get War Room, but printing out a couple of pages (well, seven currently) of updated cards shouldn't be too much to ask. If you want to make it easier for him you can take the trouble of making the prints for him, I suppose. Less of a hassle than playing with different rulesets.
