I use Conflict Chamber for list building and the physical cards for gaming.

It doesn't stop the music. It makes the device's volume super low, to the point that max volume is only like 15% of what it should be and anything lower is pretty much inaudible. All this because the developer made the program in an engine he has no control over so he can't even promise if/when it will be fixed. I have a $60 app that i functionally can't use. Not to be "that guy", but sound is in no way a necessity for use of Warroom. Quite literally, you can use warroom on something with no speakers and experience zero change in functionality. Is it annoying and something they should try to fix? Sure. The last sentence is just in no way factual.

TBH I went completely digital about a year or so ago and haven't looked back. I can get almost a whole day gaming (10am-7pm) using war room without needing to charge my tablets battery. However the default setting for Warroom do drain you battery so I would seriously recommend going to settings and turning the FPS setting down to min/15FPS and dropping the brightness of your screen down to about 30-40% of you are going to using it for sustained periods of time.
On an sort-of related note. I have an interesting situation where one of my regular opponents (a friend who only plays in our friend group round my house) "refuses" to update his card deck for khador and doesn't have/wont get warrroom. Needless to say there have been big changes in terms of buffs and nerfs to that faction but he just wont do anything to update his card deck. Not sure how I deal with that issue.

Sorry, 'that guy', but I primarily use warroom for dojoing during my work commute, and I like listening to music. That the app is so badly managed that something like this even happens is frustrating enough as well, and makes the whole experience unenjoyable. I don't use war room for list-building, and I barely use it for playing because the alternatives are faster in both cases. So the only thing I generally used it for is no longer enjoyable because of a bug that they can't fix because they decided to use a game engine that they have no control over to make their app.

Unity fixed this and then had a regression. The Unity tracker for this issue seems to indicate that on the right version of Unity if you killed the audio and then compiled your code it would be fine. Go figure. Lazy link: issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/apps-without-audio-stop-the-external-audio-sources-on-android?page=1#commentsIf you are on Android this is really more of a Google issue not that I am a fan of Unity. Android assumes that you want the audio from the Unity application and not an outside source. I checked the Warroom forums and there don't appear to be many bug reports or complaints about it so unless you emailed them *shrug*. Your use of the app is unique and you frankly seem to avoid it at all costs as you have preferred alternatives.

because they decided to use a game engine that they have no control over to make their app A mind-boggling choice at that. We need to display static text and images, and basically add numbers together with restrictions? We're gonna need a full-blown game engine with battery-sucking graphics power for this one, boys!

It's really stupid. First rule of computer science - always take the path of least resistance.

First rule of computer science is you do not talk about computer science.
"Choose the right tool for the job" should be the first rule though. In this case, I think their team was looking for a cross-platform option, had some familiarity with Unity (or at least C#), and went ahead without really considering alternatives. They chose the best (?) tool for their own interests, not necessarily the best for the final product or its users. Just my theory though, I don't know what went on at THG.

If your opponent wants to "self gotcha", then I would just let them play and point out when they were wrong, backing it up with the source. Everyone needs to agree to playing the same ruleset. I have friends who still play 40k 5th edition. As long as everyone is on the same page, it's fine.

He refuses to even incorporate the relevant data on his cards? Not even with a note on a sticky or whatever? Seven point Mad Dogs, etc? Please tell him to stop playing precious princess and get with the program. Did he ignore errata before as well?

Please tell him to stop playing precious princess and get with the program. Did he ignore errata before as well? It’s tricky. He enjoys playing the game but is not engage with the game outside of that, listen to any updates etc. In terms of Errata he relied on us in Mk2 to tell him if anything had changed. With Mk3 so much has been changed that I can’t keep up with it. He bought his physical card deck at the start of the edition and as far as he is concerned that's all he needs to do. He has no interest in buying WarRoom and “paying for the cards again”. It’s not done out of any sense of being special or awkward. At 30+ years of age all of us in our gaming group have to prioritise our time and efforts. He just doesn't pay any attention to the game apart from when he is physically playing it. It’s sad but I am going to have to tell him that he needs to do something to update otherwise I won’t/can’t play him. Which makes me feel like a bit of a twat. But the items you have pointed out like 7 pt Mad Dogs etc had a massive effect on the game. I guess I am just not looking forward to the conversation.
