privateerpress.com/community/privateer-insider/insider-08-28-2017Talion Charter Theme Force only allows Privateer warcaster/model/unit and non-character Mercenary Warjacks(yes, warjacks are not need to be Privateer warjack). -Talion Charter gives 1 free solo or weapon crew unit per 25 points of Privateer models/units(include warjacks!). Keep in mind that Commodore is not a weapon crew unit, as noted in the insider. -All Solo models gains Dodge -A Press Gangers unit gains Ambush Also it introduces Talion pins.

A reminder that ALL Warjacks are allowed. Only Privateer ones give free points though.

Looks solid at first glance. You can run jackspam, dudespam, or anything in between. Doesn't fix the difficulty for pirates cracking armor, but it does let them take the support needed for free.
Ambushing pirates was expected. Dodge is okay.
About as good a theme as possible, imo. But it doesn't fix the natural weaknesses of the models in it.

The freebooter with kiss and a knocked down target can trash a highly armored target pretty well.

I mean...Nomads, Freebooters and Galleons with Aiyanna seem perfectly fine for armor cracking? At least all but the most hardened opponents. Plus Ambush is an absolutely amazing ability in SR 2017, and Press Gangers should be pretty awesome at it.

I hadn't noticed until this Insider that the Galleon is a Privateer model, so it contributes towards free solos. Just taking a Galleon gives you a free solo and puts you halfway towards another.

They don't have guns or Pathfinder and aren't very survivable outside the solo bubbles, so at best, they'll maybe distract something of value before they get gunned off the table. An opponent might fall asleep at the wheel, and put some infantry within 12" of the noard edge across open ground, I guess. It doesn't help get low-ARM melee infantry across the board, it doesn't make the solos very much harder to snipe out, and if you're playing a jack list, just run Irregulars. It's fluffy, it's decent, it's unexciting, and it solves no problems with the pirates.
