What do we, as a community think is the best way to play a journeyman league?
What tactics, advice and purchases do we recommend?
I have a few ideas, but want to see what everyone thinks because I'm likely not quite right.
(I'll edit this post with what we decide)

Common tactic to win the league are swap to a battlegroup caster at week 4. Malekus can handle a battlegroup up until then, since a crusader is pretty much never actually a bad choice, so there's your 10 point add in for week 2. Once you hit the caster swap, Amon of Sevvy 2, per your preference.
Another tactic is to stick with Malekus, but with the release of Horgle 2 that became a massive risk if a clever troll player is around.
In truth though, I don't like gunning for "the win" in a journeyman league: it should be about exploring the faction. Even if you don't start a new faction, or even buy anything, simply using some units you typically overlook is a better way to play the leauge.

Whilst I agree, nothing will put a player off a faction faster than repeated losses. There's also the fact that the Protectorate struggles a little until week 3, when they can get the Choir.

I'm playing in a small Journeyman league now to just get in more games and sticking with Malekus though all 6 weeks. Week 2: Repenter More fire damage is never a bad thing and will open up some flank positioning with the spray attacks
Week 3: Thorn Gun Mages, Attendant Priest, minimum Choir of Menoth and a Wrack Banishing Ward on the Gun Mages and 6 shots of fire damage.
Week 4: Eye of Truth, The Covenant of Menoth, Vassal Mechanik Easily the best jack to run with Malekus, 10 inch bubble of no spells, and repair for the EoT
Week 5: High Paladin Dartan Vilmon, and Visgoth Rhoven & Honor Guard Shield Guard with ARM 21 is great plus P+S 14 weapon master, More Shield guard with the Honor Guard and a bunch of great abilities from Rhoven
Week 6: Daughters of the Flame Not actually sure why I added them... probably had solo hunting, and jamming with their high speed in mind.
