Hi there everyone!
I'm a Rhul player, but I also dabble in Minions, specifically Blindwater (love the multiwound infantry and elements of undead; and more focused themes/factions). Currently I've been playing some Maelok with Blindwater and have been having a lot of fun. I would play Rask, but I haven't picked him up yet.
Anyway, I was hoping you guys could share your Blindwater specific experiences with Maelok, and who might work with him outside of Rask (only because I know Rask is really strong and popular). Any fun, janky lists that have caught opponents off guard? How do you guys get around (read tolerate) Mat 6?! Lol. Is it possible to go beast heavy within Blindwater (ours are pretty expensive, at least compared to the Rhul jacks I'm used to using), or is success found through the use of posse?
I ask because I've seen a lot of threads shift towards the pigs, and thought I'd try to drum up some conversation about the other side of minions.

Even though Python's Flying Circus isn't a thing anymore, I still think that Rask with a bunch of Junior Warlocks is good. The availability of Rage makes all those beasts hit like trucks, Rask can protect them all (and most of them have built-in survival tech), and putting so many unique rules on the table is just fun. And for bonus points, they're all Mercenary Minions so they'll play with Rhul if you want.
I didn't play SR2017 yet but the ability to spread out heavies should be good for contesting at least?
The theory on the pair here is that Maelok presents a grindy attritiony theme list, while Rask w/ Lessor Warlocks presents a savage damage outputs, lots of heavy beasts, and the ability to project threat at occaisionally weird angles. Plus, Rask is also happy running in theme with several Posse units as Fury targets, so you can build him a totally different way if that makes sense for your pair.
If you must avoid Rask, Bloody Barnabus and Calaban both do strong gunline lists with Briggands and / or Nyss and / or Sacral Vault. Calaban's ARM debuff and Feat spell-slinging lets you kill medium-heavy targets at range and get ahead on attrition. Barnabus drops everything with his Feat and clears LOS for guns to go for attrition.
