"You have huge guts! I will rip and tear your guts!"
Kommander Orsus Zoktavir is probably the most aggressive version of Butcher that you will meet. As Butcher was gearing up during the Thornwood War his mind was slowly eaten by inactivity, and eventually in a fit of rage he attacked the city of Fellig, despite being massively outnumbered and out gunned, Butcher almost took the day through sheer bloodshed, and that power can be yours if the dice are forgiving.
Butcher's Stats are the same as all Butchers. Except he comes with a huge amount of special rules compared to his first and third incarnations. The most important (and the hardest part of using B2) is his Arcane Dementia rule. Every turn, you roll to see how much FOCUS Butcher has, and it can vary from 2 to 7. And you have no way of altering this roll. However if Butcher destroys enough models in melee in one turn, you'll get all 7 next turn, provided you don't die to the counter attack.
As a side note, Butcher's control is ALWAYS 12 inches. Nothing can alter his control range, be it feat or anything that lowers the FOCUS of a warcaster.
Butcher also has berserk and a rule that is similar to overtake, except it requires his melee range to be free of models, friendly or enemy.
Finally Butcher has conferred rage, which increases the MAT and SPD of warjacks that BEGIN their activation in his control. Note that this triggers when Butcher destroys a model, it doesn't have to be with Lola herself. Butcher does have a gun and an offensive spell which he can use to trigger it.
Luckily, 3 of Butcher's 4 spells are cost 2, which means he can still cast them when he rolls poorly (and he will, and it will often be the turn where you need about 4 or 5 focus to do what you want to do. The final spell is eliminator, which has an unlucky pow and a small aoe. But every model killed allows Butcher to move 2 inches.
The other three, and probably the spells you are more likely to cast are Boundless Charge, which is handy for extending the threat range of Butcher or any jacks he has with him, Fury, which turns Juggernauts into PS22 monsters, and Ravager, which grants Berserk to one warjack at the cost of losing out on chain attacks (sorry Kodiak.)
Finally Butcher has a feat, any enemy model that gets destroyed in Butcher's Control generates a RAGE token. You may then place these tokens on any other model in Butcher's control. These act like focus in that they let you buy and boost melee attack and damage rolls. So to get the most out of this you need some decent heavy hitters in your army.
Assembling your Force!
Butcher2 doesn't do anything for anyone except to make them hit harder, according to Orsus, a defensive buff means that you can't take damage because your enemy is in a body bag (or multiple body bags.) And his feat only works on melee attacks, now this means that you need some guys who are good into combat but might not have that many attacks, like Man o War Drakhuns who can buy multiple PS14 weaponmaster attacks into things. Man Hunters are also pretty good and so is Yuri the Axe. Kayazy Eliminators would like to boost their damage rolls on combo-strikes that they make after walking around into your enemy's butt. And the list goes on and on.
Currently, I have been trying Butcher2 in our Jaws of the Wolf theme list and it is working okay at the moment. You have multiple Khador heavies which make very good feat targets, and you have the new Forge Seer. These help give focus out when Butcher isn't feeling so hot. And as they are the only models in Khador with Empower, its really handy to have that additional focus lying around.
But this is a KGB! Bring out your lists and your battle reports and show the world that Butcher2 is back in business!
