I am a big fan of the ADR only tournaments. They're usually very interesting, as you see casters and locks you wouldn't normally see.

My only issue with ADR only events is that the 40 point side board greatly benefits the better players more than the less experienced or good players with no trade off. Since everyone was forced into those pairings.

Ohh!
We've never done an ADR event where you get the ADR benefits. We've only done tournaments where you're forced into those four casters. We've not seen that issue.

zerfius unless I'm getting it wrong, ADR is a selection of casters, in this case 4, that PP sets aside as being "Active Duty". In a tournament where you would have 2 or more lists, if all of those lists are run by casters in the current ADR, then each of those army lists can have a side board of 40pts worth of models/units that you can exchange/swap in for from your regular list, once casters have been chosen. So for example, you could have 3 units of doomreavers which is 39pts as your "specialists" for your Irusk2 list. You find out you're playing against a lot of incorporeal enemy models. You could swap out 39pts worth of stuff from your list and put in those 3 units of Doomies.

I'm a bit bummed they didn't include a jack caster, but yes no duds in the list. And OW2 will be added when she releases, and she can be run VERY battlegroup heavy. My question is this: in a world of theme lists, is ADR relevant? Sure, if you were going to play those casters anyway why not? But are you actually gaining much? if you brought Zerkova in Legion and Irusk Jaws are you really swapping out tech after the list drop? Yes, at the margin I might swap out the Conquest for 3 heavies if my opponent brought Marauder spam...but it just doesn't seem like that big a gain relatively speaking. People have been running with some success Irusk2 in Jaws with Kayazy. Makes a lot of sense. You have anti-blast to help there. You murderate crap with Battle Lust. You can use, in a pinch, the artifice to keep em alive and with the I2 bubble allow for some movement tricks. Thus you could, for example, put Strak2/Z1 as pilot of Legion of Steel. I think if Strak2 you should look at flipping out Iron Fangs for Conquest if playing into autowounding stuff that bypasses the ARM skew on your fangs. Then with Irusk put in the Vanguard a swap for the Kayazy...or even be able to Kayazy harder if your opponent really didn't bring an answer to stealth/cover.

Bringing three 75 point lists and 40 pts worth of Specialists for each of those doesn't sound very appealing to me. Maybe Battlefoam will just start selling UHauls that you can park next to the gaming table. I'm not much of a fan of ADR and especially the Champions format which mandates it. Meh. At least they are finally getting rid of the current Iron Gauntlet format. That's overdue.
