From The Orgoth Second Invasion pt1: "...leaving their first target, Khador, utterly unprepared for the battle ahead, decimating all opposition both on land and at sea…" First of all, I do not believe that the Empress would be so unprepared. Secondly, would it have any bearing on the future for Khador (in game terms)? Do I really need to invest in a new army and paint it red...

Based on the geography of Immoren and the Orgoth invading from the western sea the only coastal options were us, Cryx, and Ord... Of those, Khador is the traditional lore-based punching bag because it's big and human-bad, whereas Cryx relies on a 'lurk in the shadows' kind of bad that wouldn't really want the narrative spotlight in this way.
It will make absolutely zero difference to the game. There are several characters who are canonically dead and it hasn't slowed them down in the least!

Makes sense even, if Khador retains mostly garrison and "fast response forces" along the coast to counter Cryx/pirate raids, they are probably woefully insufficient to handle a full blown invasion force.

I do kind of want the Orgoth to have something planned for Toruk too, after all they've copied the guns and 'jacks that threw them back the first time, it would make sense for them to have tried for something with the Dragonfather, maybe some of the warwitches that stayed in Cryx have been taking notes and passing intel...

And, to be pedantic, decimated means the killing/destruction of 10 percent of the force, from a Roman punishment where legionnaires were required to kill 10 percent of their members selected at random. People commonly throw that term around as an equivalent of "devastated."

People commonly throw that term around as an equivalent of "devastated." I was surprised when I first learned this; I guess I had assumed it mean to reduce something to 10% of it's original size. It's like how everyone uses "begs the question" wrong. At what point does the common "incorrect" understand of a word or term become it's new meaning? Man, language is hard.

As we are finding out about the Russians in Ukraine - 10% of an armed force is quite significant. But, looking at it mathematically, it doesn't seem like a large portion. If decimation were leveled against an entire Roman legion, that's around 650 soldiers, which is significant. Human perception then probably did the rest and, in common parlance, when he hear "decimated" we now think something like more than half.
