Andy2 really likes his a more maneuvrable battlegroup I think. But he's all over the place and I don't really know what to build with him in Khador; he likes a combined arms approach but likes quality infantry as well. AC is a decent place for him but it's a bad place for Victor, and he can't really keep, say, Kayazy in Jaws alive. Why is AC bad for Victor?

My best succes with Victor these days (thank the gods for Wartable) has been in Warrior of the old faith, infernal machine from Vlad, choir buff and occasional menitechon buff on the fire shot is enough to make the victor worth it. Work better than in the « pure khador » themes. Sorry about the ulhans though, Vengers are just a strait up better alternative in warrior of the old faith.

(I keep telling people in the "homebrew theme that morphed into 'fix Legion of Steel'" thread that Uhlans aren't that great, but nobody listens to me. )

I'm with you, michael! Stupid Lance rule...

Lances are very thematic; they are great as the point of a cavalry charge but not really practical to swing around when you're not charging. On the other hand, a mounted knight isn't usually locked in place by a footsoldier; a line of cavalry should be able to trample over a line of infantry. Can you guess what rule I'm suggesting they give the Uhlans? Then the Iron Fangs could get a rule like "Spear Wall" or something, that prevents being trampled over...
Wait, this is the Victor thread, not the homebrew thread. Never mind, carry on...

Isn’t it wacky how all our threads lately keep circling around to how bad Legion of Steel is...?

To be fair it's the theme most sorely in need of a rework. Internal balance wise, that is. All the others have their place and LoS is, well... - want big punch melee dudes? Doomies. - Human wave? WGK - want chonky boys that punch hard and have shooty? AC. - want melee cavalry? WooF. - want to run Zerkova with a lot of melee stuff, doing just about the same as LoS but fat better support? Flames.
The theme is not just bad because it's a rickety piece of placeholdery crap but because everything it does, another theme does better. I faced (and won) vs AC two years ago and only because of near-perfect play on my hand, Ghost Walk bullshit and my opponent making a mistake giving me a near army-wide feat but the thing that most stood out was that I did not really outnumber him.
I had three jacks (jug/jug/Marauder), two units of pikes, bears, a min unit of Uhlans and solos and he had, all in all, not noticeably less than I had. And all his stuff had boxes, and most of them had guns. Good guns. IFP are expensive. Too expensive.

Uhlans are one of my favorite units. Rifle corp is nice to.
Strak2 just seemed so nice with Uhlans. Spd 10 Uhlans. Whooooo. Granted Vlad2 is a lot nicer, but I've already run that.
I guess what you should do with a Victor is the winterguard theme. Battle engine, weapons crew, cover them in templates.

Play Legion of Steel against an Armored Corps list with Suppression Tankers that actually use the Covering Fire templates. It's a joy to play, and definitely not a soul-crushing, horrifically lopsided experience!

FFE is still pretty nasty on Victor's gun and you can follow it up with a serious amount of automatic 1 and 3 points of damage while tough, no-KD, immune to blast Kayazy are also not without merit.

Stealthboat Irusk2 in jaws?
Irusk2 Victor Kodiak Marauder
Ol ' Grim - Requisition Widowmaker Marksman Manhunter Hermit of Henge Hold (Merc Solo Slot) Underboss Vizkoya (don't own this one though)
Kayaza Assassins Max + Underboss UA Elims - Requisition Elims - Requisition Widowmaker Scouts
Models without stealth: Widowmaker Scouts (stick in cover or concealment and hope for the best) Ol'Grim (Incorporeal and hopefully bank on 18 def being ok) Hermit (Ancient shroud) Irusk2 (hides behind colossal/kodiak's cloud, probably the cloud if he wants to support the rest of his army)
Three jack's on irusk2 is a bit optimistic maybe.

Drop the two jacks for a Devastator, then swap out the Manhunter for Yuri2 and I'd go from there. I also dislike taking a olossal without some repair options. Don't forget the Adjunct either.
