Thought I'd make an "official" thread here to get peoples thoughts and feedback. I'll post the updates as they come and check in every few days to see what discussion is happening. Here's the third update to the Brawlmachine format! This update includes clarifications about how specialists are supposed to work, gives a small update to the Epic List, reformats the document to be more readable, and preps us for our first leg of the Brawlmachine league! www.loswarmachine.com/brawlmachine/2020/8/27/brawlmachine-update-3

It's awesome that you're promoting a quicker, smaller-scale competitive approach to Warmahordes. I support it wholeheartedly and I can't wait to try it out after the pandemic. I am hoping that the local scene (Southern California) embraces it, especially as a way of bringing in new players.
That said, the link was broken for me, but I found the page directly from your website.

Hey Jaden! Finally got the chance to try out Brawlmachine last weekend and it's a blast. Games are super quick and we got through a three game series in about 75 minutes (that was with me spending a lot of time in the tank).
I'm glad to see Gorten on the ban list as he was a pretty touch matchup. I used to see him terrorize Journeyman leagues in Mk2, and it was even more nightmarish playing against him in a particularly live scenario.
One particular highlight was discovering that gearing towards assassination lists doesn't seem to sap any of the fun out of the format. Playing Grissel2 with Ledfoot poses a pretty nasty threat that might catch your opponent off guard in the first game, but the second and third games become these awesome cat-and-mouse matches where your opponent knows how your schtick works and is trying to thwart you at every turn. Ton of fun, would happily run a tourney of this!

Brawl has peaked my interest in WMH after COVID and getting shit on by 9E 40k. I particularly like FA1 eliminating spam of the, "optimal," choice. Gives me a decent excuse to break out some of the old museum pieces.

At the moment I am running a Brawlmachine league on War Table and have just finished playing with a friend who left WM&H ~2 years ago but wanted to try again when he heard about this neat format. We have a few new/returning players in the league.
I am a fan of Brawlmachine. I have played ~10 games of it so far. Those scenarios are very good, live and tense. You have to score and contest every single turn, which gets more and more difficult with diminishing forces. Even a single point of advantage can be successfully carried to the endgame, as the battle is just 5 turns long.

I've been retired for al ong time, but willing to test it once I'm able to go outside for a game. For ages I've been trying to recapture the feel of my first MK1 games, fast and fun, something that the official 75-pt steamroller wasn't able to provide.
Hope this catches up!

Cyel Could I get some details about the war table league? The short games should allow me to participate assuming timing works out.

Note, though, that War Table games tend to be much slower than RL ones. I also didn't include Deathclock in the league - for the above reason and to help less experienced players who are the main focus of the league. It means the games aren't really much shorter than Deathclocked 75pts SR :]

I've played a single game (best 2/3) of Brawlmachine and even the "relaxed" 35 minutes clock feels a bit frantic, even though there's only a handful of models. That's probably the intention, but playing on 25 minutes would be rough.

Veterans underestimate how long the game can take for a player who has to learn or re-learn all the rules. Even a single unit activation can be painfully long when you have to stop several times -no, you have to run or charge with everybody, can't just move and attack
-go back, you can't reposition after running -no, go back, you have to be in formation with your officer not leader -yeah, out of those two guys you bought the one with chevrons is now commander -ok, this guy out of formation can't attack -now this guy on the other side out of formation doesn't contest -yeah, you have to face directly after charging -no, it's not attack that is boosted after charge, it's damage etc etc...

Don't forget the special ones like myself. Your steps are like me everytime I play any game after, no matter how many times I have played it before.

If you missed out on the first portion of our Brawlmachine League, you're in luck! We're taking applicants for the second part right now! The league is run in 3 week chunks, and after each chunk players can add on, drop out, swap lists up, or swap factions out. We'll also be updating the Brawlmachine packet after each section. If you'd like to join, we'd love to have you! Come play some Brawlmachine, it's a ton of fun. www.loswarmachine.com/brawlmachine/2020/9/14/brawlmachine-league-part-2-sign-up-information
