Hello all
Just bought the 2017 all in on box (AIO) since I'm starting up cryx as a second faction.
Gaspy 3 looked to fun to pass up.
But to be honest I feel like I have no clue how to play him, looking for any kind of tips or tricks anyone wants to share.
Biggest question is when is best to use his feat?
Also what do you guys usually run with him?....ill eventually be buying more models. Curious to see what's worth his time.
Thanks for any help

He likes his jacks quite a lot - personally I run Deathjack/Barathrum/Cankerworm, but arguments can be made for almost any Jack really. He also likes Satyxis Raiders, because Def16 models with Ashen Veil are just obnoxious

He likes his jacks quite a lot - personally I run Deathjack/Barathrum/Cankerworm, but arguments can be made for almost any Jack really. He also likes Satyxis Raiders, because Def16 models with Ashen Veil are just obnoxious I play the same setup. Wrong Eye & Snapjaw and Darragh Wrathe are also good with him, because they tie in with the DEF skew and ARM skew respectively. It's often a good idea to put Ashen Veil on a unit and use those to project the -2 to hit around your jacks, that way they can also benefit from it, at least in melee. Satyxis Raiders are very good for this because they tend to be hard to remove by themselves. DEF 18 against ranged attacks and DEF 16 + Star Crossed against melee is very obnoxious. You usually use the feat when you anticipate to get the most from it, for instance when you think Rhan is going to pop feat (lots of spells) or when the opposing Hordes player will go all-out. A good time is often when you took the alpha with minimal reprisal options from infantry. Your opponent will have to spend a lot of focus or fury to get your ARM 20+ jacks down. When they finally go down, you can charge Gaspy in at 20ish focus and just kill everything that is now clustered up from attacking you. Also fun is just spell assassinating the opponent. Darragh + Mobility gives him a 13" charge threat or a 18" spell assassination threat, many people underestimate this. And even if they don't, it's hard to pass up the opportunity to retaliate against your army, even if it does fuel the feat.

I never even thought of using Gaspy as such a serious threat. Wow that's awesome.
For jacks besides cankers do you guys suggest DJ and Barry? Or is there better options I'm missing?
Lucky for my I have bought everything I could a satyxis!
And Gaspys buddy vociferon, how does he play? Does he wanna be up near the front so Gaspy vets souls or is he more mid to late game?

And Gaspys buddy vociferon, how does he play? Does he wanna be up near the front so Gaspy vets souls or is he more mid to late game? 1)Hide him behind satyxis or jacks and collect souls 2)Cast mobility, walk him just in b2b with enemy high-def model -> cast hex blast with 0'' deviation.

I really like Deathjack and Barathrum with him, as well as Cankerworm, the latter 2 because they are relatively difficult to remove, are cost effective and facilitate hit-and-run tactics (with Drag Below and Reposition respectively), the former because he is our highest damage output jack, has solid spells to cast with Hellfire and Hex Blast and is very durable to begin with, with Gaspy only pushing that higher. Many people like him as a jack spam caster, with Inflictors for high base ARM to be pushed up by Unyielding (and 2" melee helps with keeping it, remember it requires you to engage, not just be engaged) and add a bunch of Slayers and Seethers to taste. It is understandable, because Deathjack is indeed very expensive, though I find him to be worth the cost in this instance. Stalkers are good too, because Mobility makes them scary fast, but I don't think Asphyxious 3 does anything more for them that Aiakos 1 doesn't do in any generic list. My way is definitely not the only way to play him, but I do like it the most. Vociferon is mostly to get the random souls, though you can't always do that while keeping him safe. Casting a random Hellfire or Hex Blast where you need it is what you use him for most.

Or Hellfire your opponent's Revenant Crew Leader to (permanent) death

I agree with the above, I enjoy Barathrum and Cankerworm with him as well as satyxis raiders + sea witch. My biggest mistake with him is usually getting a little too aggressive with him and getting him killed. He used to be able to tank much better in MKII, so something that took me a while to adjust to was the change in how focus works with overboosting armor. He is no longer a mini-terminus after feat turn.
I have not used Deathjack with him this edition because of the cost, but I can definitely see the appeal.

Also consider running Carrion Thralls with him. Carrion Thralls under cloak of ash become a fast, hard to hit unit that is surprisingly hard hitting at times. The main thing is that due to prowl they gain stealth from cloak of ash and become DEF 15 against living in melee. I've actually been experimenting with a 75pt list based on the all in one box that looks like this
Asphyxious 3 + voceferon (-24) Barathrum (15) Inflictor (13) Seether (13) Cankerworm (9) Ripjaw (7) Daragh Wrath (9) Max Bane warriors +UA (23) Max Carrion thralls (10)
Alternatively you could try
Asphyxious 3 + voceferon (-24) Inflictor (13) Seether (13) Cankerworm (9) Ripjaw (7) Daragh Wrath (9) Satyxis Raider captain (4) Machine Wraith (2) Max Bane warriors +UA (23) Max Satyxis raiders +UA (19)
Although I feel this list needs another heavy.

A simple way to expand would be to grab Aiakos1 and a stalker. Also Satyxis Raiders and their UA. Drop the Bane Warrior UA, and profit. I'm finding, that list is very anti hordes due to Darrah. It will be a functional 75Pts. May not win many games as it isn't super competitive, although it will teach you more than enough to understand the faction and will be totally playable. I've been playing that list for about two months. I've ordered a few models since then, and feel comfortable enough to begin expanding.
If you look further down this forum, there is a thread that will help out with choices, that I made.

Played Gaspy3 in an SR today, won both games I used him in. Here's the list:
Infernal Machines Gaspy3 -Vocifron -Inflictor -Inflictor -Slayer -Slayer Darragh Wrathe WWSiren (free) WWSiren (free) MWraith x2 Min McThrall (ambush) -Brute x3 Soulhunter Max Carrion Thrall Max
This list was a ton of fun to play. Max soulhunters, the Carrion, and ambushing McThrall boat all play real well with gaspy3 and feel close to auto-include under the Infernal Machine theme. Its a quick 40point package that nets you two whatever solos and some board presence. With ambush the mcthralls are able to surprise a flank and force an opponent to play inward, not to mention you can almost always protect soulhunters with 3 instashield guards and some shambling bodies. A max unit of soulhunters can get up the board quickly with their high speed and def under Cloak of Ash, and fall right in formation with the thralls unit. This puts a bunch of bodies deep on the other side of the board turn 2 and really mess up an opponent's forward facing game. Pair that with the anvil approaching the middle of the table in the form of gaspy3's brick with surprisingly effective carrion thralls for screening and baby, you got yourself a stew goin. Everyone who has the models should give ambushing and soulhunters a try. Its awesome.
Outside of theme, Barathurm is a sure bet in most lists and even better with Unyielding, and the fact that Mobility extends the range of his Drag Below movement. I don't find an arc node 100% necessary but its pretty awesome when you need one and have one. Satyxis models generally do well with him for the reasons listed by other posters. I would also like to echo those who state Gaspy can lay the hurt... because oh hell yeah he can. I've used him in multiple games to clear whatever obstacle is in the way. PS16 with Calamity and a ton of focus/souls can do a ton of work.
Dude is about as solid as they come.
